What does everyone think of the name Doris? Will it come back?

It's okay, but it's really old ladyish at the moment. Maybe in a few decades it will be able to come back.

I can't really see it making a comeback anytime soon. It sounds too harsh, I think. I don't really like it (though not because of the harsh sound), but I don't dislike it either. I actually have a male ancestor named Doris (Doris Alonzo), which has always fascinated me. I do like it on a guy, too.

I like it, but I like Doris Day so that's why. I'd only ever use it as a mn, not that I'd really use it. I don't see it making a come back any time soon.

I think it could come back, but not any time soon. It doesn't really fit with other names that are popular right now-- nothing else in the top 1000 has the -dor- sound for a girl (boys have Theodore, Salvador, and Dorian though). It has the -is ending in common with Alexis, Genesis, and Iris, but it doesn't feel as fresh. Maybe in a couple decades? Maybe not.

I don't know if it will make a comeback, but I like it. It's sassy and fun.

I find Doris to be terminally dated and quite frumpy so I can't see it becoming suddenly chic and retro.OT, I met a woman named Doris Morris once! ;-)

slightly off-topicOddly enough, it's a male name in my area,(French-speaking, for new posters), as well as a female name. I know two men named Doris.

I doubt it. I think it is irritatingly dowdy.

Oh, I love Doris! It's such a hearty ol' dame of a name.I'm horrible at predicting naming trends, so I don't know if there are or will be stirrings of a Doris revival.

It's not my favorite. It's a little too old-fashioned for me. I can't see it ever coming back.

Doris will not come back any time soon. Dora has a much better chance of revival. I wish Doris would come back because I love seeing any name from the past reborn. But just don't see this one making it. I wonder if the Rock Hudson / Doris Day movies did the name in.
