[Opinions] Ryffel
I saw this name in the obituaries today. It was the deceased's daughter-in-law. Is Ryffel pronounced like Rifle? It seems really masculine & I don't like it at all. Thoughts?

I thought "rifle" at first too, but maybe it's "riff-el"
I don't like either.

but what about the double f?For me the double f makes it Riffle (rhymes with piffle). Still not feminine, but not atrocious like Rifle would be.

Yup, after I posted this I started looking for some girl names that could have Riffle as a nickname. I'm coming up empty though.

I could see Rachel being called Riffle, like the way Elizabeth becomes Lilibet. Or Raphaela = Riffle? YEP.

I'd pronounce it Rifle. Definitely a very masculine name.

I don't know how it's pronounced but......I don't like it either. It does NOT seem like a feminine name to me at ALL.
