What do you think of Giselle? I'm starting to like it. I also like Gisella. Which do you like more. Do you think the Gis sound at the beginning would be made fun of?

I love it. To me, it is pronounced Gi-selle, so the Gis sound doesn't even figure in, unless you pronounce it Gis-selle.

It sounds a little too pretentious for me (perhaps because of the model?) but it is a pretty name. Just not something I would use.

I think Gisele is beautiful (partly because of the model Gisele Bundchen, lol)! GiGi is a cute nn.

"Gis" sounds like "jizz", a vulgar slang term for semen. Or, more precisely, ejaculated semen.

To have "jizzed" means to have ejaculated semen.

you're right but...

I'm not sure that term is used anywhere but parts of North America. Also, the correct pr. of Giselle is Gheee-zelle. Not the hard emphasis on GIS-elle.

of course, the problem with ethnic names is that nobody pronounces them right in English speaking countries. Oh well.

i like this name, it is very pretty but i would probably never use it. for me it has a very strong connection to the ballet!

Giselle is a really pretty name. I like it much better than Gisella.

Well, it's spelled "jizz", technically. But I don't think the "jizz" sound of Giselle would be teased. I didn't even think of "jizz" until you mentioned it.

I love Giselle. It's a very old name, and a royal one. But moreover it was the name of my very favourite IV specialist ever. She was my favourite because she always, always got the needle in in one poke, whereas anyone else usually took at least two tries to get it in. Giselle was also the only specialist to form a relationship with me; the others didn't really care about my feelings or even talked to me! So Giselle really made me like her name even more.

I don't like Gisella nearly as much, if it's pronounced as GIZ-el-ah (hard G). But JIZ-el-ah is lovely too.
