[Opinions] WDYT of June?
I'm kind of falling for it. I've previously preferred the quirkier Juno or Juniper but I think June would age better and is quite sweet. My only fear is that it might be kind of dowdy. So what are your impressions of June? Do you think it would work well for a girl/teenager/woman today?Combo suggestions are also welcome :-)

June would definitely work well for a younger woman. It's not really my style, but it would work much better than Juno.Juniper is okay, but not everyone can pull it off IMO.

I like it. It's pretty and sweet. However, I still prefer Juniper for its elaborateness. June is a little too simple and short for my tastes. I think it would work fine on a woman today, or a young girl or teen. One of my mother's friends is Asian, and her name is pronounced like June.

I think it's lovely. I don't really find it dated - no more so than April or August anyway. You could always use Juno as a nickname which would be sweet.

I've always liked June. I never found it dowdy or old lady-ish at all, even though I've never met anyone under the age of 50 with the name. :-D My birthday's in June, and when I was a kid, I really wanted to use the name for a future daughter. I remember naming my one brunette Barbie June (I'm a brunette; back then Barbie didn't come in too many varieties, so it was kind of "special").Never liked Juno or Juniper for a human being. They're too hipster-ish for me. But I'd be thrilled to hear of a kid named June. It makes me think of a little girl wearing a sundress playing in the backyard on a bright summer day. :)

I absolutely adore June. It's within my top 10. I also like Juniper, but not nearly as much. I don't care for Juno.I think June can fit a lot of personalities- it can be sweet and wholesome, but it can also be spunky and fun.

Makes me think of Junie Donleavy, long-time NASCAR owner. It works but I just can't get past the old man who entered Fords for 47 years.

I use Juniper, nn June, and I love it. My combos (although they might not work as well with just June) are:Juniper Corinne
Juniper Celeste
Juniper Pearl (after Benny and Joon)
Juniper Renee
Juniper Elin
Juniper RoseI tend to put single syllable names in he middle name spot so that may be why I use juniper and not June. Hope this helped. :)

Juniper Pearl is adorable!

I have always liked June. It's kind of old-ladyish, but that's part of its charm. I actually know a little girl named June (they call her Junie sometimes) who was named after her great-grandmother and it made me like it even more. I've always liked Juno as well, but the movie kind of wrecked it (not that it was a bad movie, it's just that now that's all anyone can think of when they hear the name). As a child of the 70s, I've known a couple of Junipers, and the name doesn't really age well I don't think.

Dowdy? Nah. Dowdy means the close Jane for me, or even Jean. But June is a different story, and you could even have her name as Juniper or the like and call her June. It's a sweet name in my honest opinion.

Love June. This was on the top of the list for my daughter just behind Anna. I think it is cute, spunky and will age beautifully. My Combo would have been June Aria or June Thomasina

June Aria is a spritely little combo! Very nice. June Thomasina is also very pretty!I love your daughter's name! What a lucky little girl she is!

I think it's lovely. It's a very sweet name, sophisticated but fun at the same time. I really don't like Juniper (don't like the sound of it) and I'm not a fan of Juno either.
I think June is a name that ages well. I can defintiely see it on a baby, teenager and woman.I also have a secret crush on June for a boy. Probably more as a middle name but still. Don't tell me Alexander June isn't a handsome combo. ;)

Alexander June *is* a handsome combo! Nicely done!

I think it could really grow on me if the Juno movie hadn't come out. I really disliked it and it has ruined Juno for me (which I didn't like much to start with) and has influenced my opinion on June. However that association put aside it's a really pretty name.

I think it's a very chic choice right now. It's retro and homey, very hipster in its appeal. And I think it would age very well, since it would be cute on a little one and very natural on an older woman. Plus, Junie as a nickname? Adorable. Also, because it's so short, it combos nicely with soo many things. Maybe anything. And I think it would look smashing with something more contemporary in the middleJune Penelope
June Sophie
June Emily
June Lillian
June Phoebe
June Abigail
June Lauren
June Evelyn
June Hannah
June Isabelle
June Madeleine
June MollySee look how friendly she is!

Junie is adorable! I like that I could call a June "Junie" or "Juno" as a nn. It really livens up the name!June Penelope is stunning but Penelope is my favorite girls name so I always feel weird making combos with it in the middle!Love June Sophie, June Phoebe (very quirky and fun), June Abigail, June Evelyn and June Madeleine. I think June Madeleine is my favorite. It is so nice and unexpected to see Madeleine in the middle position. Thanks!

Yes, Junie is so cute! And isn't there a children's book series about Junie someone or other?I almost put June Penelope but thought it was overwhelmingly orange. But I guess not everyone would think so. June Sophie is surprisingly nice, and I really like June Molly. June Emily is great, too. It feels a bit more book-ish. I find Emily manages to do that in the middle name position.

The Junie B. Jones series, recently made into a movie. I can't remember if they ever said whether Junie was a nickname or not...

I go on and off June. I really like the long vowel sound, and I love the summeriness about it. It's bright and happy. I also like the June Cleaver association. Quaint, as Alcyone said, is a good word for it. I can definitely picture June on any age and I think it would fit in just fine today. Although ever since I misread a boy's name and month of birth as his full name, I've thought it made a really interesting middle name for a boy!I like June better than Juno or Juniper. Juno is too quirky and hip for my taste, and Juniper I want to like but I'm just not a big juniper fan. If I had some sentimental juniper memories I'd be all over it, though.June Frances
June Marjorie
June Marsaili
June Wendy
June Dorothy
June Ellen
June Louise
June Josephine
June Eloise
June Caroline
Ooh, I really like some of those!

Gorgeous list! These combos are definitely making me fall more in love with June!June Frances and June Ellen are charming.June Eloise is possibly my favorite of the list, which is surprising. I usually really dislike Eloise because of the 'weez' sound but with June it sounds so light and sunny.Love the alliteration of June Josephine although I think as a combo it is a bit too heavy.June Caroline makes me think of a warm Summer day. Adore it :-)Thanks so much!

June Wendy, awwww!!!

Reading all of those wonderful combos makes me think that June is actually a better middle name than first. So while I love all of the above combinations, I think they become more awesome flipped where June is the middle name.

It would make a sweet, bright little middle name, but I'm often wary of putting anything one-syllabled into the middle name spot because they sound good with pretty much anything. It's more of a challenge to find a good combo with a one-syllabled first name. :)

One-syllabled middle names always make me afraid they'll become the next filler MN, á la Rose, Grace, Jane, etc.
vote up1
True...Yes, a full name certainly stands out when the middle name is not short and sweet, since they usually all are :)

It's a sweet name with a quaint vibe. With other older names coming back, I think it would be fine these days.Juniper is adorable. It's lively and sweet without being too wacky or cutesy. Some combos:June Lydia
June Rebecca
June Bridget
June Theodora
June CecilyJuniper Laura
Juniper Clara
Juniper Colette
Juniper Cecily
Juniper Caroline
Juniper Astrid
