I love the way it sounds but I find it a little dated. It's not that unusual here, but all the people I know called Elaine are about 40-50, so I find it hard to imagine it on a baby. I prefer similar-sounding but more fresh names like Helene or Elena.

I have always loved the name Elaine! It's kind of middle-aged-secretary-ish, but I think it would work on a baby. Elaine would need a dramatic or at least unusual middle name, like

I love it. It is my mom's middle name and I love the nickname Laine. I don't have any combos already because in all my combos I use Elaine in the middle name slot.

I like Elaine. I also appreciate the connection to Arthurian mythology. I think it's maybe a little dated, but not in a terrible way.

Elaine is beautiful, and I also like the Elaine of Astolat connection. I think it's my favourite Arthurian name -- I was never a big fan of Guinevere or Lancelot, heh.

I think if I were to use Elaine, I would use it as a middle name. It seems to make good mn combos with many of my top girls' names. I really like Margery Elaine in particular.

Someone posted a group of BAs a while ago that had Phoebe Alaine or something on there - I thought Elaine Phoebe / Phoebe Elaine would be lovely. Also, Elaine Ivy really pleases me at the moment. Or Elaine Iris. I names like Elaine.
