Carter's quite popular as a first name.
If it wasn't, it wouldn't have been in the top 100 for boys last year.
I don't like it, personally. If I had to use a surname-as-first-name in the same vein, I'd go with Carson (and it's all Carson-of-Queer-Eye's fault!). Overall, I'd much rather use a surname that actually came from my family tree, though.

I think it's bland and non-descript. I know one person named Carter.

And I don't care much for surnames as fn. I prefer more classic names.

I mostly think surname when I hear it, and I can't say I like it, sorry.
I absolutely love the name Carter and was considering it for my second son... but my hubby doesn't like the name :(~

I don't know any Carters. It's mostly known as a last name, but I do like it as a first name!
