[Opinions] Re: Molly
in reply to a message by Evangeline Rose
I have a strange relationship with Molly. For the longest time, most of my childhood, I loved it. Wanted to name my daughter Molly. It even remained on my using list around the time it was actually necessary for me to think about such things. But the past few years, it's dropped off my list completely. I wouldn't use it anymore. But it's not entirely off my radar. I still think it's cute and I have an affection for it. I think part of its downfal came because I'd now prefer to use it as a nn, and have never liked Mary enough to use, and for some reason won't consider it as a nn for Margaret. Meh.
Anyway, I think there's a lot going on with it for such a little name. It's upbeat and colorful and full of energy, and yet I can see it on some shy pioneer woman, too. I also think it feels pretty sporty.
I've known lots of Mollys, but the ones I can think of right now...
Molly, my second cousin, about 27
At least 3 Mollys I've gone to school with, so are in their mid-20s
One Molly age 3
I'd name Molly's siblings pretty traditional stuff, or it would also work with some 80s names, I guess!
