I appreciate seeing Emmanuel, Constantin, Frederik, Henrik, and Karl. I like the use of "k" where we use "c". I also appreciate the sprinkling of high classical tone throughout--reminds me of coffee shops in Vienna. (Also appreciate the time you spent compiling this list--one I wouldn't ordinarily have a chance to see).Of the girls, I enjoy the wit of Alice Felice, though they'd pronounce Alice in such a way that it rhymes with Felice. Pauline is refreshing. Lili Marlene is cool, and so good to see Magdalena.thanks for posting!

Actually, Lili Marlene (in every possible spelling of both Lili and Marlene) keeps popping up in BAs lately. Lily (again, in whatever spelling ;-) ) is wildly popular right now and Marlene is being rediscovered... so I guess it seems a "logical" combo to some parents.
However, I agree with you: whenever I read this combo, Marlene Dietrich starts singing in my head.Jack - Dean is an odd combo, isn't it? I don't know why, but for some reason it reminds me of whiskey... Is there a whiskey brand of that name or am I mixing it up with Jack Daniel's?This is the third Berenike I've seen in BAs recently. I love this name, I could actually see myself using it.
Oh, and it's the second Balthasar (I think).
I hate to disappoint you, but I assume Franziska and Pauline probably don't have a middle name.

I think for Jack - Dean the oddness comes from a combination of Jack Daniels and James Dean. I don't think there is a whiskey brand of that name, but with both of those I don't think there needs to be! =)Your BAs are so much more fun than US ones. Berenike x3 and Balthasar x2 is possibly the most incredible thing I've heard in a long time. (I could see myself using Berenike too.)I kind of assumed the same, but I like to hope otherwise.

I think you are right about Jack - Dean.
It kind of sounds like a weird mix of maverick, desperado, Robin Hood meets the Wild West and nerdy wannabe. And maybe something else too, something that I can't put my finger on.
The BAs got more interesting those past couple of years (in my humble opinion, of course). Like the parents got more daring in their choices while looking backwards for great-grandparents' names, all at the same time.By the way, a few weeks ago, I even found TWO Niobe in BAs. Ok, they were born in two different cities, but still.

I love your description of Jack - Dean! I couldn't have put it better myself.I wish the same would happen here. That's the best you can hope for. I love the idea of doing what our great-grandparents did, only better and with more guts.Niobe is such an awesome name. The idea that there are two little Niobe's in the world makes me happy. The world needs to be more interesting like that.

Bummer! I should have posted last year's BAs. I just looked them up and they are more interesting and varied.
