Queen: Rosa Katarina Elizabeth Alexandra, Her Royal Highness Queen Rosa (21)
King Consort: Thaddeus Giacomo Matthias, His Royal Highness King Thaddeus (22)
-DPrincess: Mirabella Rosa Helen Katarina, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mirabella "Mira" (2)
-DPrince: Gabriel Thaddeus Alexander Bertram, His Royal Highness Prince Gabriel "Gabe" (nb)
Of the Royal House of Gilain, of the kingdom of Tayel.
For the first time. Tayel has opened trade with the distant Shizue Empire. A small fleet, sent to open negotiations with this empire over a year ago, has returned with a much larger fleet accompanying it. It seems Emporer Fujio did not only desire to trade in Tayel's famous ports or gain access to the mines in the northern mountains, but he wanted to be sure everyone was dazzled by his own land. He not only sent trade goods and envoys, but an array of gifts for the royal family, all costly and valuable and showing the wealth of the Shizue empire. Among the people he sent were warriors, acrobats, scribes, poets, musicians, and scholars. The acrobats and musicians were the only ones to tour the royal city, and they dazzled the populace with their remarkable agility and captivating new sounds. Mira especially loved the musicians, as she loves to be sung to. Their arrival caused a great deal of excitement in Atyme, and in Tayel in general as their ships reached other ports and their goods spread. Adding to that excitement was the arrival of a new royal child! Queen Rosa delivered a healthy and beautiful baby boy only weeks after the arrival of the fleet--the poet even composed some verses on the pregnant queen and then the baby after he arrived! Rosa and Thaddeus had talked for months about names, and had finally decided on Gabriel as his first name, the first mentioned that both absolutely loved. Thaddeus was the natural choice to come after, as Mira had been named for Rosa. Alexander is for Rosa's father and Bertram for Thaddeus's grandfather, who died shortly after Mira's birth. But through all these names, the family just calls him Gabe. He resembles Rosa a great deal, though he too has his father's nose and seems likely to have his green eyes. Mira is absolutely in love with her brother, and according to her head nurse she asks constantly if it is time for "Gabe to come with Mama and Papa" in the evenings.
Though Rosa and Thaddeus are trying to follow the same plan that Rosa's parents did with her, in the weeks before Gabe's birth Rosa was not able to spend as much time with Mira as usual. The border with the kingdom of Savia, the kingdom directly to the north, has seen some disturbing trouble that may mean the Savians are preparing for an attack. The Savians have been traditional rivals and sometimes enemies of the Tayelans for centuries, mostly over the mines in the Odurin Mountains that make up the border. The rich mines all throughout the range have always been tempting and both sides have tried to sieze more of them in the past. Rosa has sent more envoys to Savia, hoping to keep the peace. The last thing she wants is to have to prove herself as a military leader so soon after taking the throne.
