In Hitchhker's Guide there's a woman who was Patricia McMillan on Earth but when she leaves with Zaphod she is known as Trillian. Which is hilarious, but I actually prefer it to Trillium. Apart from sounding hesitant, that -um ending is a neuter signal in Latin and I'm afraid that's my first thought. I also think its rhythm is jerky.
