Of the Royal House of Lirlan, of the kingdom of Dellorne.
Sarissa's marriage to Commodore Luther was put off when Isaac was called for duty. As a Commodore, he could have asked to be married first, but he wanted to wait and do the honorable thing for his country. Sarissa was upset, but agreed to wait to be married. She figured that there was no real difference between being married at 17 or at 18.
On a happier note, Lara and Raoul announced that another child was on the way. They were glad to have another child, and hoped that it might be a girl.
News came soon that Ria, now Empress of Numar, was expecting with her husband Faiz. They had been happily married for over a year, and were glad to finally be having their first child, and potentially the heir to Numar.
Also, Princess Mariana was going to have a baby. However, her marriage with Percival had not gone well. After the birth of their son David, Percival ignored Marina. In a year, it was common that he was having an affair with Lady Prunella. Marina felt like she should have been furious, but was not. She instead realized that her childhood friend, Duke Adam of Trent, who had been helping her along when Percival abandoned her, was in love with her. Marina's new son is actually Duke Adam's son. Marina told this boldly to Percival, hoping he'd ask for a divorce, so she could marry Adam, but he told her, just as boldly, that Lady Prunella was expecting as well, so they were even.
Tragedy struck days later, when Damien was out riding with Marina's husband. Percival, being the only witness, told a rather unlikely tale. He said that Prince Damien's horse suddenly saw an animal and bolted, throwing Damien from the horse. However, upon closer examination, it appeared that several burs had been placed under the saddle, to irritate the horse. Percival claimed to have no knowledge and called it a tragic accident. However, Marina was the first to suspect that her husband was lying and had taken revenge. She kept her suspicions to herself at first, not truly able to view Percival as one evil enough to retaliate against a child...
Damien's fall caused him to break both of his legs, putting him in bed for months. At one point, he developed a fever so bad that it was feared he would die. He recovered eventually, however one of his legs was shorter than the other, and he would hobble for the rest of his life.
Marina was expecting her baby just as it seemed Damien was finally better. After confessing to her twin, Sarissa, she went to her parents, to tell them the truth. She told them of Percival's unfaithful tendencies and how she suspected him of causing Damien's injury. When Lucian asked why he wanted revenge, Marina revealed that she had discovered Percival's affair with Lady Prunella and began one of her own with the kind Duke Adam. Finally, she told them that her baby was Adam's. While Lucian was shocked, Adelia was less so. She had heard gossip of her son-in-law's relationship with Lady Prunella and had tried to dismiss them, however she found it harder to do so once Lady Prunella became pregnant. The observant queen had also seen her daughter interact with Duke Adam and had suspected that a romance might be forming. While she was not happy with the impending illegitimate child, she agreed with Marina that she should no longer be tied to Percival. At that point, Lucian stepped in, reminding Marina of her accusation that Percival was responsible for Damien's accident. If he had cause harm to the Prince, it would be reason enough to banish him and annul his marriage.
Overjoyed, Marina begged her father to take this course of action. With some convincing from Adelia, he agreed and Percival was sent (quietly) away. The official story was that he had chosen to join a monastery. Queen Adelia confronted Lady Prunella, who was order away from court as soon as her child was born. She was to return to her husband, who lived in Alomina.
Soon after this revelation, news came from Numar that Ria had given birth to a daughter. Her name was Farrah, in honor of her father Emperor Faiz. One of Farrah's middle names, Lilia, was to honor Damien (whose middle name is Carlisle). Ria named her when she was unsure of Damien's fate, as news took time to reach Numar.
Not much later, Princess Lara had her second child, Alisa. Princess Alisa's middle name also honors her uncle Damien (Victoire & Damiana), however Lara intended the name to celebrate her brother's survival.
The next royal grandchild was Marina's son with Duke Adam, Alastair. He was named to honor his father, but also Damien, because she felt partially responsible for his injury. After all, it was her ex-husband who had caused it, in retribution for her pregnancy. Alastair Damien Carlisle's god father was also Prince Damien. King Lucian wanted the official story to be that Alastair was Percival's son, however, Marina had already been forced into marriage to avoid scandal. She told her parents that she didn't care about the repercussions. She would tell everyone that Alastair's father was Duke Adam. Even if this meant banishment, she was staying with the truth.
Because they loved their daughter, Lucian and Adelia agreed to this. They were less agreeable, however, when Marina told her parents that she wanted to marry Duke Adam of Trent. Though they had known Adam since his birth, they were reluctant. Though Marina was claiming Alastair as Adam's, the news was not broadcast to the public. Many people would just assume Alastair was Percival's son. To have Marina marry again, and so quickly, would raise even more of a scandal, especially since Percival's departure was quiet. Marina, however was obstinate, declaring that if she couldn't marry Adam, she would never marry another man. Finally, Lucian agreed, hoping that this could at least solve the problem of an illegitimate child. Duke Adam and Marina were wed in an exceptionally quiet and private ceremony. Only months later would they be allowed a public celebration.
Shortly after Alastair's birth, Lady Prunella's son, Percival the 2nd, was born. She wanted no doubt as to the patronage of her son. As soon as the pair was well enough to travel, they left court. Officially, Prunella was ordered back to her husband, but sources claimed that she went to Barria, to be with Percival.
A happy respite came when Isaac Luther finally returned from the Navy and was finally able to wed Princess Sarissa. The story of the Princess and the Commodore who married became a favorite among the people of Dellorne, because it rewarded the common-man who served his kingdom.
Dellorne's problems outside its borders however, did not fade as the even as the internal ones did. One of Dellorne's most valuable trade partners, Guo-Gang. This empire started insisting on trade agreements that made it difficult for Dellorne to profit. Since trade with Guo-Gang was so valuable, Lucian agreed to the terms, however he was wary about the potential crisis if the situation worsened. He knew that a treaty with Empress Zan Yu of Guo-Gang might have to be written to avoid loss of trade or worse, war. He only hoped that the treaty didn't involve any marriages. Though he had two children who were not yet married, it was still unclear how healthy Prince Damien was, after his accident. And Lucian was not eager to send his only healthy son away across the ocean, for it seemed unlikely that Zan Yu would send any of her precious daughters to a foreign kingdom such as Dellorne.
