Of the Royal House of Lirlan, of the kingdom of Dellorne.
The past ten years in Dellorne have been filled full of events. First, just as it seemed like Duke Erik of Rowan would never be heard from again, he marched all the forces he could gather towards the palace. Queen Adelia fainted when she heard that her traitorous brother was about to attack once more, but soon joined King Lucian with a resolve to end Erik's influence once and for all. Lucian deployed the entire Royal Army and in the battle of Lirlan Hill, Erik's forces were defeated. Though the battle was bloody, all of Dellorne rejoiced that their long time enemy was captured. When Erik was brought to court, to have the King declare his fate, there was no love lost. Erik looked upon his nieces and nephews and expressed a desire to kill them and their children. He even cursed his sister, Adelia, who had once spared his life, calling her a traitor. Lucian did not hesitate to spare Erik this time, instead, he ordered immediate execution. After hearing Erik threaten her children and seeing the destruction on Lirlan hill, Adelia had no objections.
After Duke Erik had been vanquished, a number of births followed in each family:
Lara, the Crown Princess and Raoul had one more child, a daughter whom they named Margarita after Queen Adelia. After their third child was born, they decided to have no more. Though Lara was to be Queen, she saw three children as plenty of heirs. Besides, Lara had begun to focus much of her time on learning how to rule Dellorne, so that she might become a good Queen. She had to study the intricacies of trading as well as the many laws. Lara worked closely with her father, Lucian and the two became extremely close, leaving Lucian satisfied that Lara would be a wonderful queen. Raoul was very supportive of his wife and learned along with her, so that he might be able to give her advice once she was ruling. Tomas, Alisa and Margarita, the couple's children, grew up well. Tomas was always focused on the military. He practically grew up in the training yards and wishes to become a soldier or a knight. Alisa is already shaping up to be an strong leader, like her mother. Out of all of Lara's children, she appears to be the most likely candidate for heir, because of her charisma and intelligence. Margarita is more scholarly than her older siblings. At the age of eight, she speaks Leosian, the language of her father's home, as well as her native tongue. Margarita inherited Raoul's dark looks and appears to be the most Leosian of her siblings. In fact, she has expressed a wish to visit Leosa, and upon doing so, declared that she wanted to live there forever. Lara and Raoul don't want to let their baby go just yet, but neither of them would be opposed to Margarita marrying into a Leosian family, once she was old enough.
Prince Alaric and his wife Alini had a slightly more tragic decade. The birth of their third child, their first son, named Gabriel, brought illness to Alini. The pregnancy was difficult and the birth even more so. The Royal physicians were sure that Alini was going to die, and the baby along with her. However, by some miracle both of them survived and, in time, grew healthy. Sadly, subsequent tries at having children ended in many miscarriages and one stillborn baby. Alini was devastated, as she had always wanted a large family and Alaric was sad as well, for he knew how much his wife wanted more children. Alini finally came to terms that she would have no more children and began caring for the three she had, making sure that they were raised well. Alaric worked with trading, acting as the liaison between Dellorne and Numar (Alini’s homeland). Under Alaric’s guidance, trade prospered between the two kingdoms. Alini and Alaric’s children, Leela, Aida and Gabriel are doing well. Leela is a tomboy still, running wild around the castle with her cousin Tomas, in particular. Alini despairs that Leela will never be a proper Princess, however Alaric tells her to be patient. Aida is every bit the lady that Leela is not. She likes embroidery and clothing and is shaping up to be a great beauty, for she has inherited her mother’s gray eyes, dark curly hair and pretty face. Alaric is more worried that when Aida is older, the timid girl won’t know what to do with all the suitors she has. He’s much more confident that Leela will be able to handle them. Gabriel is the ‘average’ child. He does as he’s told, sometimes, behaves, sometimes, and studies, sometimes. His parents aren’t sure what to make of this, but figure that he’ll grow up eventually.
Ria, the Empress of Numar and her husband, the Emperor Faiz, were happy, but the people of their kingdom were wanting an heir. In Numar, a man must inherit the kingdom, so many in the kingdom became anxious when Ria and Faiz kept having daughters. Ria, though she loved her new home and husband, thought that this custom was outdated, however Faiz thought that it would be difficult to get his people to agree to this. After Farrah, they had Princess Nura, the next year, Princess Yasmin, then Princess Salima. Finally, their fifth child was a boy. Numar rejoiced to know that they had a Prince and heir. Crown Prince Mehdi was the joy of the country. Ria figured that she wouldn’t have more children than that, but when Mehdi was four, she had another child, also a son named Ali. Ria was happy being a mother to her many children, but also she spent time learning the Numaran language, so she could talk to her subjects. Faiz loves all of his children and spends as much time with them as he can, despite also having to rule the kingdom. There was a bit of trouble with Faiz’s half brother, Yusef, when he got the daughter of an influential man pregnant, however Faiz ordered Yusef to marry her, or be banished, and Yusef decided to settle down. Of the couple’s children, Farrah is the most independent. Nura is the loudest. Yasmin is the lady, who likes to follow around her mother. Salima is the shyest is child, which Ria thinks is because many people ignored her, because she was the 4th girl. Mehdi and Ali are too young to have any real personality, but they are very loved.
Sarissa and Isaac had three children, however, they chose not to give them the title of "Prince" or "Princess" instead opting for "Lady" and "Lord." Everyone was shocked to hear this, but even more surprised to know that Sarissa wanted to move out of the Palace, to be closer to Isaac’s work, which was on the coast of Dellorne. Sarissa and Isaac lived on the coast for a while, but when Lady Mary was born and Isaac had to go to out on a voyage, she moved back to the palace with Mary. A few years later, Sarissa and Isaac had twin sons, George and Martin. Finally, Sarissa came to terms that Isaac might sometimes come be away, and she wanted her family’s support. She wanted to be near her twin, Marina as well. Lady Mary is very practical, and glad that she isn’t a princess because that means she has to be proper. George and Martin like doing everything together, because they’re twins.
Princess Marina is finally happy with her life. She and Duke Adam had their quiet wedding, and now are living happily with Marina’s son with Percival, and their own two children. Five years after their marriage, they decided to have another child, a girl, whom they named Sara, after Marina’s twin. Marina hasn’t heard anything from Percival since he was banished. Lady Prunella, Percival’s mistress, did try to come to court to show off her son, but Adelia turned her back at the door. Marina figures she has had enough drama in her life and is now happy with her love, Adam and her three children. David calls Adam ‘Dad,’ even though he knows that Adam really isn’t his father. Alastair loves his little sister and thinks that she’s the cutest child ever, even if she is annoying. Sara looks up to both of her brothers.
Damien, after recovering well from his accident married the daughter of the Empress Zan Yu, of Guo-Gang. This smoothed over relations between the countries, and a trade agreement was easily reached. Princess Mei Li did not want to cross the sea to live in Dellorne. Once there, she fought violently against marrying Damien. He too was reluctant to marry her, since he was only 16 and he didn’t want a wife, especially one who didn’t want to marry him. However, once Mei Li and Damien met, they seemed to like each other. To everyone’s immense surprise, Mei Li announced she was pregnant soon after their wedding. No one had expected the two of them to have children so soon, and it wasn’t exactly what they planned either, but they were both happy to have a baby as well. Much to their surprise, they ended up with twins! Princesses Gia and Annie were the newest sensations at the palace and everyone loved them very much. When Mei Li was adjusted and trying to learn a new language, as well as how to be a mother, she was glad that Damien had so many sisters and sister-in-laws who were eager to help her out. Two years later, they had Prince Leo, and five years later, they had Princess Vela. Mei Li ended up loving Damien, who was kind to her and loved her back. She didn’t mind if he limped from his accident, she was just glad that he was kind. Mei Li managed to visit her family a few times and they were glad she was so happy as well. Damien and Mei Li often seemed like the happiest couple of the royal family, with the fewest problems. Mei Li became good friends with Princess Marina and Princess Lara, who welcomed her into the family.
Prince Brendan had perhaps the most scandalous ten years. As the youngest, he always felt very neglected. At age seventeen, he began having an affair with the married Countess of Gent, Juliana. Juliana was 28 at the time. Lucian and Adelia did not approve with this relationship and made this clear. They had had enough experience with their other children to know that this tended not to end well. Brendan didn’t listen to this and kept seeing Juliana. When Juliana’s husband died suddenly of an illness, making Juliana a Dowager countess, there were rumors of poison. Brendan ended his relationship with her soon after, because, as he revealed to his brother Damien, Juliana had poisoned her husband. Juliana died the next year of another mysterious death. There was suspicion about if that had been poison as well. Several years later, he met a cousin of Lara’s husband Raoul. Her name was Lily and she was coming to visit Raoul, whom she hadn’t seen in years. Brendan met Lily and fell in love with her. At first, he was reluctant to admit, since things had gone so badly with Juliana, who had only wanted to gain power, however, Lily was sweet and genuine. The two got married in a small ceremony and soon, they had a daughter, Sarai. Lily was glad to know that her cousin, someone from her country, was nearby. Lara’s daughter Margarita was excited to know someone else from Leosa, other than her own father. Lily and Brendan want to have another child at some point.
King Lucian is planning to abdicate in favor of Princess Lara when he turns 60, next year. His health is waning and Lara is old enough and wise enough to begin ruling. He wants Lara to be prepared to be Queen and to begin her reign when Dellorne is prosperous, rather than when the country is mourning his death. Already, celebrations are being planned for the coronation of Queen Lara and her husband, King Raoul.

Her name was Lily and she was coming to visit Raoul, whom she hadn’t seen in years. Brendan met Lily and fell in love with her. At first, he was reluctant to admit, since things had gone so badly with Juliana, who had only wanted to gain power, however, Lily was sweet and genuine. The two got married in a small ceremony and soon, they had a daughter, Sarai. Lily was glad to know that her cousin, someone from her country, was nearby. Lara’s daughter Margarita was excited to know someone else from Leosa, other than her own father. Lily and Brendan want to have another child at some point.
King Lucian is planning to abdicate in favor of Princess Lara when he turns 60, next year. His health is waning and Lara is old enough and wise enough to begin ruling. He wants Lara to be prepared to be Queen and to begin her reign when Dellorne is prosperous, rather than when the country is mourning his death. Already, celebrations are being planned for the coronation of Queen Lara and her husband, King Raoul.
Thank you so much for hosting. I've said it before, but I really enjoyed this round. As you can see by how much I wrote, I got very attached to this family. :)
