Help[Opinions] Amelie, Melanie and Natalia
Three girls names that I've been thinking about recently.
While watching 'To buy or not to buy' a property show here, one of the househunters was named Amelie. A name i've often dismissed, but the more the presenter kept saying it the more it grew on me. Pronounced Am-muh-lee
Melanie is a name I used to love as a little girl (probably between the ages of 9-13) and I've recently started liking it again, but is it dated?
I've recently started like Natalia, and Nathalie really.
Opinions on the three/four names?

I love Amelie (put it way over Amelia)! Just dislike the fact that it's becoming more and more popular over here.
I also like Emilia and Aemilia.
Natalia is too "hot-blooded" for a little girl. Though I can imagine a 25-30 year-old with this name.
Melanie has a nice sound to it, but for me it's simply outdated, plus I don't like its meaning.

Amelie is beautiful. I liked the film Amélie, so that adds to its appeal even though Amélie and Amelie aren't pronounced the same. I usually pronounce Amelie AH-me-lee, but in the States, AM-muh-lee would probably be a safer bet.
Melanie is a decent name. I like it, but not enough to use it myself. It's on the dated side, but not overly so. It sounds similar to names that are popular these days, such as Emily, so I wouldn't really worry about it being too dated. How about Melania? It has a similar feel to Natalia, but it's less popular.
Natalia is gorgeous. It's becoming more popular these days, but it's not overly popular yet.

Amelie is pretty. I wouldn't use it myself, but I wouldn't mind seeing it on another person's child.
Melanie I think is slightly dated, but I only know one, and she's in her mid twenties.
Natalia is absolutely gorgeous. I'm not big on Nathalie, but I do love Natalie.

Amelie is very pretty, but it's so close to Emily, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. I feel the same way about Amelie that I do about Emilia, a favorite of mine. If I used it, I'm afraid my daughter would spend her life explaining that, no, she's not Amelia.
I've always liked Melanie, and I had a good friend with the name. I think the Mel- names are a little dated in general, but Melanie is less dated than Melissa and far prettier than Melody.
Natalia feels a little cold to me, but I love Natalie. The Nathalie spelling is very pretty, and I really like it, but I'd probably only use it as a middle name. I think the most conventional spelling is the way to go for first names unless there's a real reason to use an alternative.

I don't care for Amelie. Reminds me of the movie, and the Am-uh-lee pronunciation makes me think "animal"

Amelie is very pretty. I think of the movie, but that's not a super strong association. Milly would be a cute nickname too.
Melanie feels pretty 70s and 80s to me. I knew a couple Melanies growing up (I'm an 80s child) so that one's fairly dated to me. Not a bad name though, I wouldn't cringe at all if I met a little Melanie.

Hmm. Amelie pronounced like am-ma-lee just sounds like Emily with a weird accent. Pronounced Om-ma-lee, it wavers between sounding pretentious and like "omelet." I like the way it looks, but I can't really warm up to the sound.
Melanie is lovely. A little dated, but I don't think too awfully so.
Natalia is a little frilly for me. I prefer Natalie. Nathalie is a little confusing if you live in an English speaking place, I'd go with just Natalie.

I really like Amelie. It's a pretty alternative to Emily. I pronounce it AHM-ay-lee.
Melanie is a name that I've liked since I was little too. There's just something nice about it. I don't think it's that dated compared to much more common names like Jennifer or Ashley.
I prefer Natalie to Natalia or Nathalie.
