[Opinions] Bay
I thought of using this as a name recently and I just like it more and more. What do you think? On its own, as a nature name, and for a girl. Opinions?

I really like Bay and was just talking about it the other day to my youngest when she pointed out that it reminded her of baying at the moom (grrr ...). I still like the nature reference and just the sound of it. Then again, I have a dd named Brooke so I WOULD like it. :-)

I kind of like it. It makes me think of calming body of water, which always makes me happy.
The right person needs to have it though. An uptight, stressed out, controlling person would just ruin it as a name.

THere's a character on a TV show called Switched at Birth whose name is Bay. In one of the episodes it said her name was Bay Madeline.

Oh that's a pretty combo :)

I actually kind of like it! I think it seems more masculine though. Despite living by a large body of water and never having had horses, it actually made me think of the color for a horse before the geographical feature. And I love that warm red-brown color and the horse image is just awesome. But again, seems more masculine to me.The only negative thing I thought about it was that it's close to bray.

I know a guy named Bray. Just Bray. Always thought that was weird.

Wow. How unfortunate!

HahaPoor guy. Do people make donkey noises at him all the time?

They don't, which I find weird, he is obviously surrounded by very nice people :P I never made fun of him but always thought it was weird. It conjures up images of a donkey. Some people have even told him they thought his name was cool. I blame the -ayden trend, especially Brayden. I think Brayden is already in the top 100 (or Braden) and people are getting used to it. Personally I think it's a name I'll never understand, kind of like Brandy. But Brandy sounds better and personally I would rather be named after liquor than the sound a donkey makes.Wow I just found out Braden actually has a history. Oh the surprise. I thought it was a recent invention.

It's too short for me, so it sounds incomplete. It makes more sense as a nickname, perhaps for Bailey. To be honest I thought Bay would be a boys name, and I also think Bailey is a boys name so I can't see it working on a girl.

To me it's just a nature name, like Sky or River. I dislike Bailey, I don't know why. Maybe Bay would make a good middle name.

Sorry ... I don't like it. It makes me think of horses, and hound dogs baying at the moon.I could see it as a nickname for a Beatrisa (BAY-a-TREE-sa) though.

It's so short that it feels incomplete to me. It conjures nice images of horses and greenery, but its sound is not attractive to me as a full name for a girl. If you could work it into using it as a nickname, I might be more partial to it.

I knew someone named Hali Bay (Hali was pronounced like Ollie) I'm not that into one syllable names so it's hard for me to give an opinion.

Bay is one of my guilty pleasures -- it's so balmy and warm and comforting. I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable using it on its own, though.

I really dislike it, sorry. :(
