Nell and Georgie were married four years ago and are very happy. Nell's has found extremely scientific work that I simply don't understand--suffice to say, she's using her physics degree and then some! They aren't sure whether or not they want to have children.

Nomi's work as an occupational therapist is going really well; it's her personal life that's a roller coaster! Daniel Paul Robertson left her as soon as she saw the blue line, so Nomi has raised her daughter, Dinah June, on her own. Dinnie is now three years of age, and she is the sweetest child I've met in an age and a half.
It's a good thing, too. Joel Reuben Wolff, her current boyfriend--though it's weird to call him a boyfriend when he's 31!--adores the little girl. He and Nomi get along wonderfully; she tells me they have long conversations about all sorts of things. I'd really like to see her stick with him, because Dinnie deserves such a kind and caring father--and Nomi deserves an intelligent, loving husband.
DS: Marcus Bastian "Mack," 22
Mack is now finished with school forever, he's told us. I for one am glad he doesn't have to force himself through classes anymore; I know how much he hated it. Mack ended up with a degree in business with a minor in literature, with plans to open up his own bookstore sometime in the future. For now, he's simply taken a job in one, in hopes of getting some real-life experience in the world of work under his belt. He's also a fancy-free bachelor and having the time of his life.
DD: Amy Jana "AJ," 17
D?: Autumn Jemima / Adam John
AJ, as she's now known, has been moving faster than either of us realized; she's currently pregnant. We're not happy at all about this--that was the first thing she heard from us when she told us--but we're going to support her in any way we can.
AJ herself is having a very hard time dealing with this, and we're helping her through as best we can. She's told her boyfriend, Timothy Daniel Lightcrosser, better known as Raze to most of his contemporaries, and she's explained to him that she wants to keep the baby--but not him, unless he fixes himself up. Seems Raze was fond of the marijuana as well as the beer and the cigarettes, and his class attendance has been spotty in the past few months. I feel horrible that not only did AJ have to get involved with this boy, she feels like she needs to take responsibility for him, too. She'll have enough trouble with one baby. We'll see whether Raze plans on shaping up or shipping out, I guess.

DD: Maria Janelle "Mamie" Lausch, 33, a stay-at-home mother turned working woman
DH: John Thomas "Jackie" Lausch, a civil engineer
Mamie and Jackie simply aren't made to be, it seems. She's leaving him--he cheated on her with one of her closest (or so she thought) friends, and she's declared that she can't handle it any more. (Mamie's made her share of drunken mistakes, though--I'm not feeling too sympathetic for her or her soon-to-be ex husband at the moment.)
DS: Elliot Thomas "Eli," 18
Eli is at school in, of all places, Alaska. I'm not sure what the draw is, beyond the fact that he's a world away from his parents, but he really enjoys it. Eli loves the outdoors, and there's lots of outdoors in Alaska. Maybe that's it.

DS/DS: Peter Adam "Petey," Paul Levi "Pavel," 4
Pearlie and Toli have two beautiful little boys named Petey and Pavel Popov. Both parents wanted to name the children in their own heritage, so they compromised, using names that were recognized in both Russian and English. Toli took to calling Paul "Pavel," the Russian form of the name, just as Pearlie started calling Peter "Petey." They're getting along wonderfully, all four of them.

One Christmas, Christian confided in me that sometimes he feels like God took pity on him when he was younger, because he has no idea how he deserves all he has. He's finished trade school and is doing good, hard work with his hands, something he enjoys--and moreover, he's making money to support his family. He has a beautiful wife who loves him dearly, a brother who lives nearby, and three children who clearly inherited the best of their parents' traits. Manny is seven and curious about knowing the answer to every "Why?" ever spoken. Iggy's three and playful and bright, just like Christian was as a baby. Valley, at the age of two, is a talkative little bug--she'd rival Joan Rivers, I tell you. The family is saving money to buy their first house.
I'm his mother, so I'm biased, but looking at Christian playing with his children and speaking to them in Spanish (which he's learning from Mari) as well as English, I think God knew that Christian needed his second chance.
