[Opinions] Eva?
I like the name Eva, pronounced EVV-a (like Ever). However, people would probably always pronounce it like EE-va. Is Evva do-able, or does it just look Kreatyv? How would you spell a name pronounced like EV-a?

I know an Evelyn who usually goes by Eve, but used to be known sometimes as Evvie - some people pronounced Evelyn (EEVlin) as EValin.I'd probably spell it Ewa ...

If I wanted people to call her 'ever', then I'd spell it Ever! Eva to me is ee-va, without doubt.

How about Ehva? I do prefer Eva, though.

I say don't change the spelling. Eva has at least three valid pronunciations: EE-va, E-va (or EH-va), and AY-va. Like Helena, this is one name where you just have to accept that you'll need to guide people's pronunication. I think that's less of a pain, ultimately, than dealing with a misspelling like Ehva or Evva. For what it's worth, I've never met an Eva (EE-va). I pronounce it almost identically to Ava without thinking, and, since I live in a place with a lot of Spanish speakers, all the RL Evas I've met have been either E-va or AY-va. The EE-va assumption may not be as universal as you think, and people can adapt.

Ooo, that's tough. I hear what you're saying. Evv-uh would be a really neat name. To me, Evva looks very strange and my eyes make a w out of the two v's. I saw some people suggested Ehva or Evah, but I really have the added h's as that is so trendy and creative looking (ie Rebekkah). Hm. I'm not sure I have a good solution. But I support finding a way to make it work! It'd be pretty annoying for an Eva to have to constantly correct people all her life. SOrry I'm no help!

It's doable but only with a lifetime of correction. A friend of mines sister's name is Hannah, but pronounced "HAW-nah" and she is FOREVER correcting people. If I had to tweak the spelling to reflect the pronunciation I'd spell it Ehva

I like Ava a lot better. I don't like EE-va much either, I'd like Eva as EH-va. So almost like Ava just with an EH sound, I heard some people from Eastern Europe pronounce it like that.I'd stick with Eva and explain to people how it is pronounced. Evva looks weird and it's hard to tell a difference between Evva and Ewa. I like Evvy as a nickname for Evan (girl) but would probably just spell it Evie or Evy and pronounce it EH-vee. I have a friend named Evan.I pronounce Ever EV-er not EV-a, but I prefer it over Eva.

Eva is pronounced Evva in my language, so I tend to read it that way. However, I have to say "Evva" seems really unattractive to me visually.

I think you're right, people would automatically pronounce it EE-va. Evva doesn't look too creative, personally I'd spell it Ever.

Would spell it the same way and you'll just have to make sure people become familiar with hearing it that way enough that it's said the way you want it... I have a friend named Laurel whose name is pron'd more like Laurelle (which I think sounds classier than the normal prn. for Laurel) and she's always having to correct people, but they learn after a while.

Evah or Ehva maybe?? Probably Ehva more than Evah...

I think people would pronounce Eva EE-va (which I love by the way). Evva looks trendy to me, and the double V looks very strange. Anyway, I'm not sure that people would pronounce that EV-uh either. Ever is probably the best spelling to go for for that pronounciation.
