[Opinions] Sylvia?
I've been really liking this name lately. What are your opinions? Also, what do you think of the nickname Sylvie?

It's ok. Feels old and dated... Sylvie feels similar... I don't hate it... Just not fond of it. It does have the advantage of not being ugly. (there are a few names I think should STAY dated... like Doris, Dolores, Edith, Ethel, etc.)

Sylvia is so beautifully simple, and Sylvie (as a nickname only) is adorable.

I much prefer Sylvie on it's own. Sylvia makes me think of someone my parents age.Still, Sylvia really isn't a bad name. And Sylvie is so sweet. I can see Sylvia making a comeback somewhere down the track. So thumbs up from me.

I had a friend at school called Sylvia Ann - the name suited her even though out of fashion, and I like Sylvia. I love the French form Sylvie - which could of course stand as the real name rather than a nn.

I don't mind Sylvia at all. I don't think I'd ever use it, but I'd smile if I met a little Sylvia. And Sylvie is a great nickname.

It's pretty and dignified. I prefer Sylvie to Sylvia, but Sylvia "Sylvie" is a great name.

It was my grandmother's name, and I think it's lovely. Old-fashioned, but lovely.Sylvie is very cute.

I adore Sylvia, and the nickname Sylvie (or even as a full name). I think there's an elegance about it that suits an older woman, gives sophistication and beauty to a younger woman, and can be wonderfully adorable on a young girl or child. Definitely a keeper.

DittoThis is everything I love about Sylvie / Sylvia. :)

I dislike it. It's weird, but I think mostly the way it looks bothers me - with the 'y' and the 'v' shapes together...if that makes any sense...probably just in my head, haha :)

I love it! And I love Sylvie too, mostly because of the book "The Great Good Thing".
Sylvia reminds me of forests, silver, and magicalness. :)

I like it a lot. A lot of people seem to think it's dated, but it doesn't feel that way to me. I think it's beautiful, and I love how it is foresty. :DSylvie is beautiful.
