[Opinions] Dane?
I honestly have no idea why I like the name Dane this week. It's not my style at all and I can think of so much wrong with it. It sounds a little silly - I mean, we don't call our children Spaniard or Swede. It's kind of dated, a Great Dane is a dog breed, and I don't know what to think about the Dane Cook association. I don't even know what I'd pair it with - I hardly like any English names. But apart from all that, I have this weird love for it now. WDYT?

I wouldn't get excited about it, but I don't hate it. I think I've met a total of 2 (and 1 was a rather short Jpns. American... which was kinda funny simply because I doubt he had any Danish roots... The other was a really tall white guy).

There is something noble sounding about it. I would consider it for a middle name.

It does sound ok.

I kind of like it recently as well, maybe because I saw some celeb used it as a middle name. I couldn't use it as I already have a Finn ;P but it does appeal as well. I was also thinking could I spell it Dain so it means poetry in Irish, but that's a bit silly

I went to high school with oneHe was a major prep. Probably not really, but in comparison to everyone else at my school. So I get a majorly preppy vibe from it. I actually don't even think of the demonym (I hope that's the right word because I can't edit this after I post it!) or the dog or Dane Cook. Just pastel polo shirts and tennis sweaters and hair gel.

I went to college with oneI agree, I don't think of the dog or Dane Cook or anything else besides the guy I know named Dane. He was a friend of a friend and was your typical American guy I guess. He was a blast to hang out with. It's weird how if we only know one or two people with a name, that's all we can think about when we hear it.

Dane is my boyfriend's second middle name. He hates it and pretends he doesn't have it, but I've always loved it. I don't know why either! But I've always thought it sounded sexy.

It's alright. I wouldn't use it but I like it. I've only known one person named Dane. I don't remember what his middle name was, but I think it would have to be fairly long (or at least not one syllable). I'd probably put it with a 3-syllable mn though.

I love Dane, and Dean. Always have. I think that Dane sounds very distinguished and reminds me of a knight of some sort.

A friend just named her son this. I like it.

I know a little girl named Dane who is a tomboy, I think it suits her well. I wouldn't name any of my children that though.

I def. wouldn't choose that for a girl.

I have only known one Dane. He was in a kindergarten class that I taught. I caught myself about to say "That's great, Dane" about a million and two times. Not that he probably would've known the dog breed, but it sounded weird to me and I kept changing it to "Nice job, Dane". :) I actually don't mind the name at all. I'd prefer it as a middle name. And I like Zane better but my husband tells me that's not an acceptable name. :(

Great name, a friends brother is named Dane.

It's my younger brother's name. He was named for his godparents Dana and Danielle. He gets called Dan and Dean a lot by other people, uggh. I have never been a huge fan (I still wish she had gone with Declan or Liam) but I love my little buddy and can't imagine him being anything else. Well, except Dante which he has taken on as some odd nickname. I don't think I have ever heard someone call it dated though...?

wouldn't let me edit. Also, he loves the Great Dane connection. He is a huge animal lover (we're just counting the days until he goes vegetarian) so it's perfect for him. It's what he teammates call him in baseball. And his full name is Dane Zachary LN.

Wow... I like Dane WAY better than Declan and Liam put together... Don't like either of those names at all. Dante's not bad... maybe nms, but not bad...
