Help[Opinions] Kristen...
What are your thoughts on the name Kristen for a boy? It's my friend's name. We're both in Australia if that helps too.

I think Kristen looks like a girls name. Maybe if you spelt it Christen it looks more masculine.... but Christian is better.

I wouldn't do it in an En. speaking country. Would be too confusing... Though I do like Kristin on a girl.

I've never seen it on a boy and had no idea it was a male name. But if there are others in your area, and your friend hasn't had problems with it... Maybe as a middle name?

Christian, yes! But Kristen, with those two spelling variations, is all girl.
In fact, I taught a girl Kristen once. She was a randy little slacker, so my impressions of the name aren't good. But if you like Chris, then I prefer Christian to Christopher though I haven't got a religious bone in my body. Or there's Kester if you like Ks.

I automatically think "girl" since it's so popular for girls where I live, but it's close to Christian, and Christen is a masculine name in Denmark and Norway, so I don't think that Kristen is that outlandish for a boy. People would assume that he was a girl at least where I live, though. I only have knowledge about its popularity for girls in the U.S., so it's hard for me to gauge how it would go over as a masculine name where you're at. If it's not that weird as a masculine name in Australia or if it's just altogether uncommon for both genders, then I think it would be okay.

To me it is a female name. I like Kieran better for a boy.

I really like it for a boy! :) Unfortunately, the name has been ruined for me thanks to several women. I would really love to meet a male Kristen though.

I have known about 5 or 6 Kristens/Kristins and he's the only male one so far... though a few years ago I heard a mother calling her son at the shops "Kristen (assuming that was how it was spelt) hurry up, please" she said his name a few times too so I did hear it properly.

At first, I was a bit put off because it seems so obviously female to me, but after getting over that part I think it might grow on me. I don't know how popular it is in Australia, but if it isn't very and he wouldn't be getting any crap about it, I rather do like it.
