Is Vela a name in Sweden?
A friend recently had a baby and announced the name today, I'm sure she said Vela and said it was Swedish, but I can't find the name and am not sure how it's spelled.
Anyone recognise it?

Vela is a constellation, but that's all I know.

Vela is a word meaning "irresolute". It is not used as a name.
Maybe she meant Vila? Vila is also a Swedish word, meaning "rest" (to lie down, take a nap). It is not commonly used as a name either.

Hmm, maybe I misheard. Ella maybe, but she definitely said it was Swedish and her other daughter is Ronja. Will have to ask again.

Could it be Vilja (VIL-ya)? More farfetched but more common than Vila.
