Wdyto Xenia? And how would you pronounce it?
It's taken me by surprise. I like the meaning, the Greek concept of xenia and some of the traditions associated with it. I'm pronouncing it almost as KSEN-yah at the moment but is that correct?
As far as combos go, not sure. Something like:
Xenia Augustine
Xenia Eloise
Xenia Eleanor
Xenia Florence
Xenia Gudrun
Xenia Hannelore
Xenia Isobel
Xenia Margaret
Xenia Regine
Xenia Sieglinde

When I see this as a name I tend to think it is pronounced ZEN-ee-ah, but in one of my current classes, we are talking about the Greek concept and the professor pronounces it zen-EE-ah. I do think that generally the x sound is more of a "z" than the modern interpretation. My favorite of your combos is Xenia Isobel. :)

love. it's not something I would use but there's something about it. it's my moms boss' daughters name (confusing?). I think KSEN-yah is right but I always say zen-ya. either way, it's a gorgeous name.

I adore the Russian form, with a definite "ks" sound at the beginning, "KSEEN-yuh." If I remember correctly, Nicholas II of Russia had a sister by the name of Xenia. It brings to mind Romanov romance and the sweep of Russian history. Fabulous.
But I wouldn't expect anyone else here in the west to say it that way, at least here in the U.S. I would say, "ZEEN-yuh" and still love it.
Your combinations are delightful. My favorites are Xenia Augustine (wow!) and Xenia Margaret. I can see Sieglinde as a sister to Xenia before I could see them in the same combination, too many long "ee" sounds the way I'm saying Xenia.
May I get in on the fun? I don't know if I can top Xenia Augustine. That may become a stock combination for me so watch out. Do you mind if I use it in a poll one day?

I much prefer the 'ks' sound at the beginning too, but from the other responses I think you're right about ZEEN-yah being the usual pronunciation. Ahh well, I might come around to it.
