[Opinions] Saskia
What do you think of Saskia? I know we've discussed the name, or at least mentioned it, on these boards, but I've never really considered it until I saw an actress on an Australian tv show with it. Suddenly, it seemed useable, and started to grow on me (that often happens, I don't really consider a name until I see it on someone). WDYT? It's sort of spunky, for me, and pretty, though the German pronunciation would get botched a little in English. The Z sound in front would always be an S.

The meaning doesn't excite me, but it sounds ok. Knew one in grade school and it was pron'd the way it looks.

I think it sounds spunky and pretty as well. I'd use the anglicized pronunciation because I live in the States. If you want to use the German pronunciation, you could always use it as a middle name so that it would be less problematic.

I like it. I actually secretly prefer SAS-ki-a over ZAS-ki-a... because when I first saw it it reminded me of a name Saski "SAS-ki" that I'd read in a book. Either way though, I'd like to see it more often IRL.
If I could use SAS-ki-a and get away with it, I probably would. But I'd know it wasn't the real pronunciation, so I probably couldn't let myself get away with it!

Ohh, I've really been loving Saskia lately. It's just so pretty, but not so exotic as to seem trashy. Reminds me of a clever little girl in a quaint European village with a penchant for adventure. Such a wonderful name~

I like it a lot. Either pronunciation is great. So even if people mispronounced it would it matter to you? Personally I wouldn't mind. My name is Marisa and I really don't care if people pronounce it either of the ways that is most common because they are both pretty.

I'm a big fan of Saskia. I know it's supposed to be Z, but I much prefer it with S and that's how I pronounce it (since I've never met anyone with this name and the S makes sense in Croatian I can get away with it, lol).
