[Opinions] Margaux or Margot?
I can't really make up my mind as to which I like better. Margaux has this sort of chic, yet edgy elegance, but Margot seems more classically beautiful. Any thoughts? Any pairings for nicknames or sibsets?

My vote is for Margot too! Youthful but grown up and beautiful!

Hmm...this is tough. On one hand, I think Margaux would actually be pronounced more accurately than Margot. My initial preference is Margot, but I also like the French look of Margaux. Margaux Madeleine
Margaux Agnes (awn-yez)
Margaux JosetteMargot Catherine
Margot Elizabeth
Margot Winifred

I love the name Margot (this spelling). It has a classic beauty and a regal air. Margaux is cool too, but Margot just looks cleaner to me. Personally, I hope to use Margot one day as a sister to Genevieve Florence. :3 For a brother, I'm considering Jules, Julien, Robin, Sacha, Luca or Jasper.I've been trying to find the "perfect" combo for a long time. :( I haven't had any luck though. Currently, I'm flirting with Margot Clementine, Margot Violette, Margot Irene or Margot Irena, Margot Beatrice, and Margot Emmanuelle.

Margot IreneMargot Irene, especially with the French pronunciation of Irene, is gorgeous. They are all lovely, but this is my favorite of your list. :-D

I think I prefer Margot. It's fun and spunky and doesn't feel like it's trying so hard to be trendy like Margaux might.Hmm... sibs? (maybe not all in the same sibset, but what you like of these)

I like it well enough! It seems like a grown-up name to me - it's my mum's name (and my middle name). My mother's siblings are Julianne "Julie" and John. I'd also like to use Margot as an honouring name. Maggie is a favourite of mine so there's a possibility I might even use Margot as a FN. My mum is very rarely called anything but Margot.

MargotMargot for sure, altough I think it's dated. I prefer Margret or Marit or Greta.
Margaux is just unfit in an English-speaking country.

Margaux, definitely. For Margot I always want to use the German pronunciation which is MAHR-gott (not very attractive). With Margaux there is no guessing, it has to be pronounced the French way.

MargotMargot, for sure, though my true favorite spelling is Margo. I love it. For a long while, it was my top name, and I still think it's beautiful. It's one of those names that seems to have it all: femininity, strength, intelligence, and beauty. As a bonus, it's familiar, but at the same time very uncommon. It's a winner. (I think Margo just ended up back on my own list!) Margot and Vincent

Margot SilviaRegarding Margaux...well, I have strong, negative feelings about Margaux, so be warned. *deep breath*Margaux drains Margot of every ounce of class. It takes an intelligent, elegant name and downgrades it to the same level as other alcohol names like Brandy and Chardonnay or place names like Brittany and Siena. It's nails on a chalkboard to me, thoroughly déclassé, just a cheap knock-off of the original, and I'm always surprised that it gets the support it does here at BtN.

MargotMargaux just seems like it's trying too hard.

They have very different feels, but I like them both. I'd choose Margaux, since it seems older and more complex to me (I do like simple names, but in this case Margaux is more complex than Margot in a good way). I can easily picture a fairly average teenager by the name of Margot, but Margaux is the weird one reading Shakespeare and growing herbs in the windowsill.

MargotMargaux Hemmingway was named after a French wine, not even a wine growing region in France. Her suicide and the family's history of alcoholism is all that I can think of when I see Margaux. It looks gimmicky anyway.Margot is the French form of the name Marguerite. Margot has history behind it. It's the only form of the name Margot that I like. Sylvia / Sylvie and Margot sound like elegant and confident sisters to me. :-)

Ooh, sisters Sylvie and Margot = gorgeous!

Sylvie is one of my absolute favourites. I can easily see myself using Sylvie and Margot, or just Sylvie Margot after my mother.

I prefer Margo.I wouldn't call someone Maggot or Margucks. Regardless of pronunciation Margo looks better than both.

MargauxI prefer this spelling. Though whenever I heard this name I think of someone who is really stuck up and has a lot of money.

I don't like either, really, but if I had to choose one I'd pick Margot. Margaux looks like it's trying too hard, and it looks plural.

MargauxI love the X in there, the whole "aux" part gives me the pleasant shivers. It's very elegant. Margot looks gutteral and flatfooted to me.
