Since I've pretty much lost all my favorite usable boys' names I'm trying to find some I would consider.
I love Simon, but the problem is that the Biblical form here is Šimun (which I dislike) or if I used Simon it would have to be pronounced SEE-mon where I live (don't hate, but it is unusual here -I've never heard it used).
So what do you think of Simon in general and with this pronunciation in particular? Any combo ideas?

I love Simon and that pronunciation. It is my boyfriend's middle name and I would not be against using it possibly as a middle name for a son.

Simon as see-mon sounds fine to me, it's not that far from the French or Spanish pronunciations.

Šimo is a nickname for Šimun here and I don't like any of it's variants:-( Well, I do like Šima, but it's very dated and regional and wouldn't work where I live.

I am a huge fan of Simon. But I dislike the pn SEE-mon as it would not work well in the US at all! Even when I stress the o in -mon, I can't help but hear semen and, at least here, it'd be a nightmare.

I love Simon! Well, I love SYE-min, and I don't mind see-MOn (like the French pronunciation, however you'd attempt to spell that out). But SEE-mon... I'm not sure how I feel about that. I actually have the same problem with Edmund, my long-time, all-time favourite boy name. Where I live, Us are pronounced like "OO" and ed-MOOND sounds awful to me. And I don't like the look of Edmond. I did find Edmon, so if I have a son and still live here, I'll probably go with that, but I'm not sure if there's a similar option for Simon.
I think that if Simon with an EYE sound in it *is* possible to pronounce where you live (like someone being named Lila in North America but pronouncing it LEE-la) and you absolutely want to use it, then why not? If it's not a sound people can make easily (why Leire is not on my list as a first name. I can't see the majority of my family being able to pronounce it as anything other than "Larry") then I'd either go for a middle name spot, or drop it... or use it and deal with it always being mispronounced. I mean, people name their kids Saoirse in North America and it ends up being fine... but it might depend where you live, too, and how open people are to foreign names/ foreign pronunciations.

Unfortunately, I'd never get EYE for i here and Croatian is not open to alternative pronunciations or spellings and we don't use middle names, so I'm really torn on this. On the other hand, I've known German and Duch guys with a similar pronunciation and they never had much problems here, but then, it was obvious they were foreigners.

I really like Simon! I have a cousin named Zimon, but Simon with an S is a totally different name if you ask me. A lot better!

I prefer the En. prn. of Simon. I don't quite love it, but it's likable. You could insist on the prn. you prefer... whichever it happens to be
pairings... on either side of (depending which is more appropriate for it)

As long as the "mon" part of SEE-mon really has an "o" sound in it (so it doesn't sound like "semen"), I'd be okay with it.
I like Simon with the SY-mon pronunciation better, but I hather that wouldn't work?

O is an o sound and i is always ee in Croatian, so this is the only way people would say it here.
