I like Alison. I know a lot of Allys, Allies, Alis, etc. Their names are forms of Allison/Allyson, Alyssa (this one is an Aly), and Alexandra.
I like the look of Ali best, but does look exactly like the boys name. I don't like Alli or Allie; they look too preppy IMO. Honestly Ally looks sort of preppy too, but it isn't as bad as the ones wih "ie" and "lli". I think I like Aly too. Also Ally looks like the word ally.
I love Alexandria :P Other ideas could be... Allessandra? Allana? Meh. I see what you mean... maybe it's best to go with a one-l spelling? Or just have a kid named Alison "AL-ee" and see how she wants to spell it?
