[Games] Immigrant Congrats Sign-Up
So instead of my usual fairyland or faraway congrats, I decided to do one a little closer to home. For this congrats, you will come up with an immigrant family. It can be from any country to any country, and in any time period you want from today all the way back to Romans in North Africa or even later if you want. There will be a prompt each round, and at least a few lines about how your family is doing adjusting to the new country will be appreciated. Naming will be by nymber-lists, rules, all the usual. I won't be policing this harshly, but try to stick to names that fit the time period and naming customs of whatever the place of origin for your couple is as well as the language. And of course, as per usual, same-sex couples are allowed (just think about the historical period you set your couple in to decide how open it is), and so are unmarried couples and lovers/mistresses. When you sign up, change the SOs appropriately. Any questions, ask away! So, without further ado...
Rules:
1. Three rounds, no notice, dropped. Pretty basic.
2. Ages are required. I will keep up with them.
3. Please try and keep names and story at least fairly accurate to time period you choose to set your story in.
4. Stories are greatly encouraged.
5. Have fun!

Names this round are up to you but consider carefully: they will go into nymbler to name a bank for the first round. At LEAST first and middle name required, but you can have as many as you want.

Question
First of all, sorry, because I'm new to this.
Can they have kids already? Do we just add them in under the couple?
Also what do you mean by Nymbler lists? Are you making them?
Thanks!
I can't edit messages so I'll just sign-up after.

Welcome!
The way congrats games work is this: in the sign-up round, you make a couple. Each new round, you'll get a child, who you will name using either rules I'll give with each round or lists I'll give (Nymbler is another name website). One of the players I allowed to have children they took in, but each congrats game is the beginning of a new family. Does that help?

Niklas and Annika were a restless young couple who wanted to have an adventure and see the world. They visited several countries; sometimes they spend just a few days in one country, sometimes a few months. They had a little money, but they always managed to get food and a place to sleep in. They had travelled around almost two years when they came to Australia. Soon after they arrived Annika told Niklas that she was tired of travelling and wanted to settle down. Her parents had offered to pay her a ticket back home and she seriously considered going back to Sweden. Niklas didn't want to go back to his old life in Sweden. He had had a restless youth full of bad choices and he wanted a fresh start. After lots of thinking Niklas and Annika decided to start a new life in Australia, Annika had realized that she loved Niklas very much and didn't want to leave him behind. Annika's parents were not happy about their daughter's choice as they have never been fond of Niklas, but they are hoping that their daughter will find her happiness in the new country.

Though many of the Jewish survivors of the Holocaust made aliyah to Israel/Palestine in the years following World War II, newlyweds Gideon and Ziva decided to cross the Atlantic, first to New York City, and then south to Buenos Aires, Argentina. They had met during the liberation of Auschwitz, and stayed together while searching for what was left of their families before marrying in Paris.

Gavriel and Chana Solomon married one another in the spring of 1931. Chana's older brother and Gavriel had been best friends since childhood, and it seemed only natural to everyone around them that Gavri and Chani were meant to be married. Soon after they married Chana got pregnant with Boaz and after him with Aharon and then with Danya. Even though these events seemed happy, and they were, neither Chana nor Gavri could be overly delighted. As Jews, they were treated as second class citizens, and especially since Danya was born, things were only going downhill. After months of careful consideration, Gavri and Chana decided to take their three small children and risk everything to move to a strange new land where they knew no one and nothing. When their families heard of their leaving, they were appalled. Conditions in Poland had always been bad, that was nothing new. The only person who truly supported their decision was Chana's brother, the same one who Gavri had always been friends with. He had decided himself to flee, but rather to England, but he wanted Chana to take his children. Their mother was very sick and they had no where else to go. Chana and Gavri, after thinking long and hard, agreed. They would take the two children as their own (for if they didn't the government may not let the two kids come onto the boat). Finally, a few weeks after their daughter's first birthday and with months of planning and saving under their belt, Chana and Gavri made their move. The family would be leaving for their new home in two weeks.

Note
I was intending this to be a new couple's experiencing a new country and beginning their family at the same time. The nieces and nephews are fine, but I would prefer if you waited for the children.

Bridget and Sean were tired of their life under English oppression in Ireland. Sean's Aunt Aileen, his only family left, had moved to New York with her husband some years before, and Sean made the decision to join her. She warned him that he would experience prejudice--the Irish were looked down on by many people--but Sean decided to face the possiblity of prejudice rather than the certainty of it. Before he left, he approached Bridget Grady, the love of his life, and asked her to come with him. Her parents, though they loved Sean and knew their daughter loved him, thought their middle child was still full young to be married. And they were afraid for her, moving so far away. Bridget was afraid as well, and she was sad at leavng her family--the "older pair" Fiona and Liam and the "younger pair" Maureen and Patrick, and her loving parents Maeve and Michael--but she loved Sean and wanted to be with him, and the adventure appealed to her. So she took her courage in both hands and married Sean with all her family around them. They boarded with only two carpet bags between them, containing all their treasures: his father's pocket watch and mother's Bible, her mother's battered copy of Shakespeare she had taught all her children to read from and the rosary her father had given her at her confirmation.

Sure...
You can have two stepchildren if they're from a first marriage of William's, one if it's Julie's child.

Heading for Minnsota, Oskar and Ingrid are only two of over a million Swedes who left their country for the US in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Oskar, son to a poor farm labourer with nine children, wants to own his own land and be able to provide for his family in a way his father never could. His uncle Nils has already made it in the US and the letters Oskar has received from him has only convinced him further that emigrating to the US is the right decision.
