Help[Opinions] How do you pronounce Tarik? (2 questions)
I pronounce it tear-ick. Looking into the database I know it is a variant of Tariq. Another variant is Tarek. Which states to me the pronunciation would be tear-ick. But Im sure some people may pronounce it Tuh-reek. So how do you pronounce the name?
Another question? Do you prefer the spelling Tarik, Tarek, Tariq, Tarrick or Terrick?

I would say TAR-ick initially, and would guess that if I saw it on someone of European descent, but if I saw the name on someone of Arab or African descent I would say tar-EEK.
If you're asking what spelling I'd pick for the pronunciation tear-ick, I'd say Terrick is the most straightforward, but I like the look of Tarek (although I'd initially say it TAR-ek, rhyming with Marek). Teric or Terik would be another option - T + Eric / Erik.

I've known a Tarik and a Tariq-- Tarik pronounced it like Eric with a T and Tariq was like /TAH reek/, but some people said it like /TAHR ick/.
I'd probably pronounce Tarik and Tariq like /TAH reek/ but Tarek like /tare ick/.
I like the spelling Tariq! Unless you're pronouncing it like Derek, in which case I'd spell it Tarek.

Offhand, I'm inclined to pronounce it tuh-REEK. Personally, if I were going to pronounce it the other way, I would say TA-rik ("ta" like in "tax"), not tear-ick as in rhyming with Eric. Though I realize that's just me, and it depends on the person. Like how some say Sair-ah instead of Sarah.
In any case, if I were saying tuh-REEK, I would use Tarik. If TA-rik, I guess Tarek or Tarrick. It depends on the kind of "feel" I'm looking for. If I wanted it to look more anglicized, I'd go with Tarrick, but if I were into something exotic I would spell it Tarek. Other than that I feel the same way about both.

I'm pronouncing it tuh-REEK. Not sure if that's right, but that would be my first guess. I prefer the spelling Tariq because that's what I'm used to seeing.
