I'm not really a fan of Ellen. Its just ok. I much prefer Elinor.

I really like Eleanor and Helen a lot, but Ellen seems dusty and flat-footed by comparison. Like a downtrodden 19th century housemaid.

I like it, but don't find it interesting enough to use personally. It's a very simple, straightforward, no-frills sort of name.

I went through a crush spell on it not too long ago, and I still like it. It's very strong and feminine, but it's humble--not too flashy or showy. It's very soothing somehow too.

I do like Ellen, but it's a name that reminds me of a 50 something year old woman. That's not a bad thing for everyone, but it just hasn't been out of popularity long enough for it to be striking. I would love to see it used in combos, but I wouldn't use it personally because it would be like naming my daughter Donna, Linda, Lynn or the like...

It's hardly a secret that I love Ellen. I love it more than any name in the entire world. To me Ellen is the perfect name.

I love its earthy, effortless strength and elegance.

I love the still-waters-run-deep quality of Ellen. She's elegant without being showy. I have to remind myself not to overlook her all the time. Bottom line: Love Ellen.

After ignoring it for most of my life, I'm starting to really like it. Ellen is pretty in a quiet way, softer than Helen, sturdier than Elinor...it's very appealing. I'd like very much to see it revived.

Ellen is like Susan, Patricia, Deborah, and other mid-century names. I only ever run into it on women who are decades older than I am and, on them, it feels boring and easy to ignore. Meeting a little 21st-century girl named Ellen, on the other hand, would delight me. I think, on her, it would feel fresh and unpretentious.

It's a very nice name. I wouldn't mind being an Ellen.
To me it is uninteresting, though. It seemed dated/boring on my peers growing up, sort of like Lauren is now. It goes with names like Lynn and Janet and Jean, in my mind - nice, but still a bit forgettable.

Very pretty.
