I like Jade but I also sometimes don't like it. I know it's weird but I have such a hard time imagining a girl of European ancestry having this name unless they had green eyes. I can see every other ethnicity using it with any type of eye color. It's strange because Jade feels exotic but also kind of not.

All the Jade's I've met are younger than me but not super young currently. I think most of the Jade's I know were born in the mid to late 90's. I've heard of some Jade's who are older than me and born in the 70's to hippie parents but I've never met them.

I don't think I will ever feel that Jade is "trashy". But I feel like it's overly exotic for some kids. Just like Amethyst, Sapphire, Diamond, Aquamarine, Alexandrite, Tanzanite and Emerald tend to be a bit over the top and glitzy feeling. For me Jasper (male) will never sound weird or "trashy" to hear and neither will Ruby or Opal or Pearl or Garnet or Beryl or Agate or Citrine / Citrina. They have more of an earthy feeling rather than an over the top feeling. Jade kind of is in between feeling over the top and feeling earthy. If it didn't seem exotic to me I think it would feel purely earthy. Topaz, Carnelian, Tourmaline, Peridot and Turquoise also feel inbetween glitzy and earthy just like Jade. Jasmine isn't a gem but it also feels too exotic imo for an European child. Also gem stone names always seem to me like it's a 50 / 50 chance that the parents are hippies. In general I like hippies and I am slightly hippish myself. Though some hippies do get on my nerves. I realized that after going to a college that had a lot of modern hippie students and old-school hippie teachers.

My name is Jade and I absolutely love it. Older people tend to comment on how uncommon it is, younger people tend to comment on how "cool" it is. Some people like to comment on how it's a stripper name, and I like to ignore them. I know three other female Jades around my age (early 20s) and one male Jade. The only younger Jade I know is 7. The rest seem to be Jadens (or some variant of that spelling). I used to not like my name because I felt it was too plain, but now I absolutely love it and think it fits me. Its unusual without being over the top and a very solid girls name. Even though its a gem, there really isn't anything frilly about Jade. The only issue is that it gets missunderstood for Jane, Kate, and Paige quite often.

I like Jade. The name is popular, but I've only really seen it as a middle name. I don't get trashy or tacky from it unless the parents give off that "vibe" and her siblings are Kaedin and Nevaeh. Ya' know? I'm working on not judging though, sometimes you just like a name...

I only know one. She's about 16 years old now, but I knew her when she was 4 or 5. She was an adorable kid: sweet, bubbly personality, wavy black hair, pouty lips and big blue eyes. She's my image of the name. Her brothers name is Jonathan, and I think her parents may have adopted a child named Brittany. Not sure. :)

I don't find it appealing at all. I know a few, born in the late 80s or early 90s, and a bunch of kids born in the early-to-mid 2000s with Jade as a middle name.

I like it. Sometimes it does have a trashy feel to it to me but I also think of the gemstone and then think it's so pretty. I do know one Jade who is about 25. She is not a very attractive girl and very introverted so she does not suit her name at all to me. I feel bad saying that but it's just my honest opinion.

I know a Jade. Her sister's names are Ruby, Ivory & Crystal. She's 23.

The only Jade I ever knew will be in his (yes!) thirties by now. He was a big Greek kid, played contact sports and field athletics, and a really tough but nice person. Now he's joined the family firm as an auctioneer.

Oooh, I can't stand Jade. I don't know about dated--it feels very "now" to me, particularly as a middle name--but I do think it's trashy. For some reason, Jade doesn't really register with me as a gem name. When I hear the it, I think first of the disreputable woman definition, then of the adjective "jaded," and only after that do I think of the pretty green stone. For me, the negative associations far outweigh the positive.

I only know one Jade (as a fn), and I don't know her well. I think she's in the 7-9 range, definitely no more than 10. I see it far more often as a middle name.

I've always liked this name actually and don't find it trashy at all. I know one girl named Jade who's in her early 20's and another who would be in her mid twenties. It's a name I'd consider using in the future actually, whether for a fn or a mn.

I love it! I think its really pretty and cool.

I know four, one in ten(and has siblings Anna and Jake) and fourteen, and nine (sibling Meghan), and four(siblings Maya and Ashlynne).

I like it. I know of one girl born in Dec. '92. (friends' daughter)... aside from that, I've ironically met 2 little boys w/ that name even though it's predominantly a girls' name and I don't really like it on boys. It isn't ridiculously overused right now, so I think it's ok. Doesn't sound at all trashy to me. Debbie sounds more beach/bar bimbo than Jade does and Debbie's a nn for a much longer standing real sensible name and there are plenty of Debbies who are far from the beach/bar bimbo stereotype that Three's Company and similar shows from a few decades ago may put in people's minds because it was among the typical names of women the guys would pick up/date. Jade hasn't really developed that type of image. It feels like a solid girls' name... It does make me think young (ie. under 30), but that's not a problem... I think it may age ok.

I like it! I've never met one, so I don't have any bad associations with it. It makes me think of a cool green color, the gemstone obviously, and parts of Asia.

I have never liked this name. I think it sounds trashy.
