I prefer Eva. It seems less trendy. Ava is pretty, but way too popular.

Eva. Ava just has trendy and short-lived written all over it... and makes me think of birds.

AvaAlthough Eva is a beautiful classic name but boring. Ava sounds a lot better.

Sometimes I think I prefer one of them and other times I seem to prefer the other name! I do think I prefer Eva out of the two though, even though Ava is lovely too. I'd consider using Eva actually.

EvaI don't know why but I really like E- names and Eve is one of my favourites, so Eva seems like the obvious choice!

Ava. Ava is beautiful in its simplicity, while Eva is...kind of bitchy.

Eva pronounced EVV-akind of like Evan without the N. Pronounced EE-va it's nice too, but I prefer just plain Eve.

AvaSomething about the sound of Eva has never appealed to me. Funny, cause I really like Evie (as a nn only) so I'm not sure what that is about, but it just sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. I feel the same way about Eve.Plus my friend has an adorable Ava Grace, age 4, and good associations always help :)

Eva! I pronounce it the Spanish way though, so it sounds like Ava anyway. I just prefer the look of Eva because it doesn't look as young/popular as Ava. I like EE-va too, I guess, but not nearly as much as AY-va.
There's also something I don't like about A pronounced "AY"... I just think A's are nicer when they're "AH"s. That's probably why I don't like Ava as much as Eva, even though I say them the same way.

I pronounce Ava as AH-vah... not AY-vah.:)
I also don't get how you get Ay-vah out of that... as from my knowledge "Ave" as in Ave maria is pronounced Ah-vah maria. :s

I like Ava "AH-va" a lot more than AY-vah! Unfortunately the AY- pronunciation is so popular where I live that an Ava AH-va would just get called AY-va all the time...

I know what you mean...
Sadly it too would be mispronounced and called Ay-vah where I live as well.
That's too bad.. "AH-vah" is such a pretty name...

Ava is more modern, Eva is more traditional, but I actually like them equally. I suppose it depends what you're looking for...
