Congratulations!
Lucie Romane is 15 years old and comes from Aix-en-Provence, France. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She speaks French, Italian, and some English, but would like to become more fluent and also learn Spanish. She is Catholic. Her parents were killed recently in a car accident, along with her little sister Marie. She is looking forward to having siblings in the house! She is very musically gifted and plays piano and harp fantastically. She is very religious and would like to go to services as often as possible. She makes friends easily and is liked by everyone. Lucie loves to bake cookies and cakes and is very good in the kitchen. Her favorite foods are roasted chicken, grilled cheese, and strawberry ice cream. She has no disabilities.
Thibault Daniel is 10 years old and comes from Quebec City, Quebec. He speaks both English and French. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He loves sports and rock music, and he would love his own guitar someday. He and his brother and sister became wards of the state after their single mother was arrested for prostitution and drug use. He would like to remain in contact with his brother Mathis (17) and his sister Emma (15). Thibault likes any kind of animal except German Shepherds. He loves car races and is excited to be able to watch one on a television with his new family. He loves running around outside and wants to learn how to ski and snowboard. His favorite foods are steak and mashed potatoes. He has no disabilities.
Please keep us up to date on your new family members!

One year later!
Lucie and Thibault have adjusted well over the past year with our family.
Lucie, now 16, started grade 10 this year with her sister Penny (who's one year ahead). She made many friends at her new Catholic high school and her friends have helped her become almost fluent in English now. Lucie bakes a lot with Penny and they are both in Skills Canada for baking; in a few years they will be good enough to compete at the provincial competition and hopefully nationals. We take her to church every Sunday, and one reason why she adjusted so quickly is to have the familiarity of weekly church services. We taught Lucie how to indoor rock climb and she (along with Thibault) helped improve everyone's French. She also taught piano and harp to Penny and Charlotte. Nathan started picking up some Italian and later taught her how to make the best grilled cheese. She cries sometimes, like on Marie's birthday or Christmas, because she still mourns her parents and sister. We have supported her and she has grown to love her new family and many siblings.
Thibault is now 11 and has started grade 6. He made quite a few friends, but was bullied for a few months due to his Quebecois accent. The bullying stopped after he talked to Lucie and later us as a whole family. Will and I talked to the principal and the bully's parents to put an end to this. He has never gone to church before, but now regularly attends with the family. Thibault now says he wants to transfer from the public school to the Catholic junior high next year. Since he has never had a nice dog before, he loves Roman! He and his new "frère" Nathan take Roman to the dog park nearby often to play with her. Thibault bonded really well with Will, his first real dad. They like to watch hockey and race cars on TV whenever they can. He has enrolled in soccer, hockey, volleyball and later learned rock climbing (which he now enjoys a lot!). For Christmas, we got him an acoustic beginner's guitar with some lessons from our family friend (and Will's former roomie) John. He misses Mathias and Emma, but already we have gone to visit them and another trip planned in a few months. He also takes advantage of skype to talk to them. On our annual mountain trip with John and his family, we got lessons for Lucie and Thibault, who quickly learned and enjoyed their weekend with the family.
