[Opinions] Gwen
I am loving Gwen right now, so...thoughts? Do you think it works as a stand-alone? It does have a history of use on its own, including a couple saints, but I wonder if most people would assume it was a nickname. What longer name would you choose to get Gwen as a nickname? I'm not a nickname purist, so "near misses" like Guin- and Gwyn- names would be fine with me, too.

Thanks everyone!I appreciate everyone's input. The fact that it can stand on its own makes me happy, but you've also given me some lovely longer names to play with.

It's not a favorite of mine. It seems so plain and boring to me. Also, the sound isn't all that attractive to my ears. I think of it mostly as a nickname, but it can stand on its own.

FAVORITE!!Loooooooooooove Gwen! I like it as a stand alone AND a nickname - most days I can't decide which I prefer. I dislike Gwendolyn but I LOVE Gwenith and Gwyneth and like Guinevere also.

I like it. I like it as a stand-alone and as a nickname, but when it's used by itself I prefer it with longer middle names.I like Gwendolen, and also Gwenaelle. Gwyneira, Gwyneth, and Guinevere are others I'd like that don't necessarily start with "Gwen". Gwyneira is my favorite of those.

Yes, it works as a whole name. I'd pick Gwendolen as the full name if I wanted to use it. If I were Gwen I'd rather be a Gwendolen nn Gwen.I like Gwyneth a teensy bit better, but it's too loaded with Paltrow for me to use, and I think the Gwen spelling goes better with Gwendolen.

I think it works as a stand alone name, it's short and sweet. But if you want a longer name how about,
Gwenllian, Gweneth, Gwendolen / Gwendoline / Gwendolyn, Gwenda, Gwyneira, Guinevere / Guenevere / Gwenhwyfar / Gwenevere, Gwawrwen, Gwener, Gwynonwen, Gwenol, Gwennol, Gwennant, Gwenlyn.

I think Gwen is beautiful, whether by itself or as a nickname. I'd use it with Gwendolen or Gwendolyn, but Guinevere has a sort of fantasy charm too. Gwen Elizabeth is a nice combo.

Yes, I think Gwen is fine on its own.I like it as a nickname for Gwendolen and Guinevere as well.I also like Gwyneth "Gwyn".

Yes, I think it could work on its own. It's fresh and spunky. For a longer name, I'd go with Gwendolen. I'm not big on the other Gwen/Gwyn/Guin names.
