Nic and I met at the Winter Olympics in 2010 in Vancouver. He was there competeting in Mens program for Russia, his home. I was only there because of my love of the sport and it was in my home country. I wasn't at all expecting what was about to happen next. It was a early morning and I was skating, warming up, my usual. He was there and started talking and never quite. Once he won, he still looked for me and we started a relationship from there. He decided to move to Canada and start his coaching career. We are now both coaches.
