Name: Fern Veronica
Appearance: Fern's a bit mousey-looking. She's pale--doesn't look like she gets out in the sun much--with shoulder-length brown hair that naturally fluffs out around her face. Her bright, violet-blue eyes are hidden behind Buddy Holly glasses, since contacts bother her eyes. She has a round face and is curvy--and she accentuates this by wearing pretty, classic, feminine clothes.
Occupation: When she was younger and going to college, she worked as a bartender at her father's club. She's now a special education teacher at the local high school.
Character: Remember how I mentioned that Fern looks mousey? Well, she isn't. Her exterior hides a mouthy young woman happy to do anything for a laugh. She's a passable singer and loves it when it's karaoke night at her favourite bar. Fern loves children and cats; she hasn't got any kids, but she does have an old mog called Oliver.
Anything else?: Fern and Milo met at Milo's very first gig, which was something of a disaster. Milo's jazz band, The Reds, were playing at The Brass Ring, the jazz nightclub that belongs to Phil Dokken, Fern's father. On that day, The Reds' basswoman, Kikiyo, was sick, and things didn't quite work without her. Fern had come to see the band (since Phil had told her that their audition was awesome), and though they weren't quite as awesome that night, she had a good time. Afterwards, Phil got his daughter and the band all drinks on the house, and Fern found herself fitting in with them easily. She and the clarinetist, Milo, struck up a conversation that lasted until her father tapped her on the shoulder and mentioned that they were closing for the night.
Two years later, when she was twenty-three and he was twenty-five, they married.
