[Opinions] Re: Emeric and Leopold
I adore Emeric. I first came across the name from Emeric Pressburger (sp?), a filmmaker from 1940's Britain. I fell in love with his work and well as his name. Bonus!I prefer Emeric too, although Emmerich is fine in my book. Surprisingly, I think most people would have an easier time with the Emmerich spelling, at least here in the U.S. But I still prefer the zippier French version.Leopold has had a special place in my heart from childhood. Bugs Bunny cartoon character does a bit where he's an orchestra conductor, modeled on Leopold Stokowski. As Bugs walks somberly up to the front the various orchestral members whisper over and over in amazement, "Leopold!" It was the first time that I heard the name and the grandeur of it mixed with the comedy of Bugs Bunny guaranteed that I would love it forever. Plus, the obvious nn Leo makes it very usable in the real world.
