Mirabelle Elizabeth Gabrielle Sophia Christiana, Her

Of the
Royal House of Damrys, of the kingdom of Ardia.
Christopher was frightened but excited when
Elizabeth told him they were going to be parents. He had not expected to be a father at nineteen, but he knew that it was his duty as king to produce heirs, and he had always wanted children.
Elizabeth was overjoyed, having always wanted children, and she for one was not afraid at all. She was the eldest of four, the much-eldest as her parents had not had another child for five years after her. She was used to taking care of young children, and though it was a bit before she had planned, she knew what to expect. The thought of the pain of childbirth did frighten her, but she faced it bravely and reasoned that with the best doctors in Ardia to attend her, she would have it easier than most women. Being strong and healthy all her life helped her, as she was able to stay healthy all through her pregnancy and childbirth was normal. She was thrilled at a baby girl, though everyone had been hoping for a boy. She had wanted a girl first, both because she had been a firstborn girl and wanted to carry that on, but also because she knew her husband was starting to question the status of women in Ardia. A daughter, especially a firstborn, would help him along into reforming things. She was never afraid for a second he would be disappointed; she knew him better. He was so thrilled at their healthy, beautiful child that he didn't even think of the word son. The councilors were not thrilled, but they were happy enough with the young queen's ease of conceiving and her good health. The royal couple was very young, they reasoned, and almost certain to bear sons.
Christopher and
Elizabeth named their daughter
Mirabelle, because she was wonderful,
Elizabeth Gabrielle Sophia after mother and grandmother, and
Christiana after
Elizabeth's mother.
The kingdom was simply happy at the birth, and the royal family became even more popular.
Christopher had followed his mother's wise advice and refrained from any large changes so far, but in the joy of his daughter's birth he wanted to make a grand gesture. With public happiness high, it was agreed by all his advisors that now would be the time to announce one of his pet projects. He launched an expedition to establish new trade routes and explore new lands, launching a fleet of five ships. At their head was the most modern and advanced of them all, originally to be christened the
Queen Elizabeth. But in his joy over his daughter, the king christened it the
Princess Mirabelle instead. The entire city turned out in holiday style the day the ships left the port in the royal city, cheering and waving and excited about what may coem back. It is a good time to be in Ardia.
