[Opinions] Re: Lille
in reply to a message by Piccadilly
When I was in High School I was convinced I was going to name my children Lille & Austell because those were the places in the "old countries" my family came from. I though Lille was just the most beautiful, glamourous thing ever and that Austell was wickedly edgy and satisfyingly unisex. I tried to do "research" on what Lille meant and somehow came to the conclusion that it meant "the island", which I also thought was heart-stoppingly romantic. I was infatuated!
I never really thought about middle names, honestly, BUT I WILL NOW!
Lille Charlotte
Lille Edwina
Lille Ivy
Lille Isabeau
Lille Violette, Lille Viola, Lille Violet
Lille Juliette
Lille Estelle
Lavinia Lille
Lavender Lille
Imogene Lille
Idony Lille
Ivory Lille

I'm rather excited that I'm not the only one on BtN who has at some point in time thought Lille was a great name.
I love Lille Edwina! Wordsmith suggested Edwina as well. It's obviously a great combo.
I'm glad you also included first names. Lille is lovely but I was drawing blanks for a first name.
Lavender Lille is so fun. Ivory is not really my style but Ivory Lille is very pretty.
Thank you!

Ivory Lille is not my style either, but I really like i's and v's near Lille, and I was grasping at straws! I don't know why. It makes me think of the intricately carved spire of a Gothic cathedral in white marble. Or something like that....
Yeah I was totally gung-ho on Lille when I was 16. And I'd still use it! I've become a coward in my old age though and I'd probably use it as a nn for Lillian instead of just-Lille. But still! It's so delicately medieval and pale watered purple and I really enjoy it.
