Help[Opinions] It's my dog's name

...so I obviously like it! I don't know any human Rivers IRL and, like the other posters, I associate it most strongly with River Phoenix and River Tam from Firefly.
My dog is male, but, for humans, I think I prefer River on a girl. It works well on either sex, though.
