Help[Opinions] Edith & Felicity
Right now I'm really loving the name Edith for my baby who is coming in February. However I'm afraid she'll get teased or picked on for having such an "old" name. At the same time, though, I think that it is a gorgeous name that is due for a comeback.
Her nickname would be Edie. I'd do Eden but I don't like the way it sounds. To me it sounds like "eaten" and is way too close to the overly popular Aiden.
I'm also adoring the name Felicity. I'd probably do Lissy as a nickname for that one.
What do you think of both?

You should use the name you love.It does not matter what people say.Once she is here the name will suit her and every one will think of her when they hear the name.That one thing good about old fashion names that they are not common.I named my daughter what you called old fashion name 11 years ago.Once she was born every one loved her name and she gets lot good comments about her name.She the only one her age with that name.She loves that.That everyone knows who she is because of her name.She has meet older people with her but not her age.

I don't think that a little girl named Edith "Edie" would necessarily be picked on for having an old lady name. It sounds soft and youthful despite being more common among older generations, and the nickname Edie adds to its youthfulness. Older names, such as Evelyn and Vivian, are on the rise, so why not Edith as well? I know of someone who named her daughter Ester, which I find refreshing. Edith actually sounds more "now" than Esther/Ester does.
Felicity is a pretty name, and Lissy is a good nickname for it. I think it works well with Edith "Edie."

Edith "Edie" I LOVE! I would love to use Edie in the future myself, but my DH has a middle-eastern background and in Arabic the word for hand sounds practically the same, so it's out for us! Eden is definitely on the cards for us though and I LOVE that name too. If you are worried Edith might be "too old", then what about just using Edie? I think it can stand on it's own as a full name. Felicity is also lovely, but I prefer Edie.

I love the name Edith. I don't think it's known as a old lady's name as much as say Bernice or Ethel is. I kind of think Edith and Felicity would make good sibling names. Also, I love the nickname Edie. You could always just use Edie. I knew a girl who was named Edie so I don't consider it a nickname or just a nickname.

I think Edith is lovely, and Edie is a great nickname which makes it sound a lot younger and fresher in my opinion. Edith is much nicer than Eden! I suppose it depends where you live, but in some places "old" names are making a comebank. I live in the UK, and "old" names like Florence and Arthur are getting more and more popular.
I don't like Felicity that much, it's too frilly and girly for me, and I find that Lissy sounds like the name of a real girly-girl who can't stand up for herself!

With all of the old-fashioned names that have become more and more popular, I don't think Edith will be that much of a jolt for most people. After all, it wasn't that long ago that I thought of Emma as an old grandma name too, and now look how popular that name is. The good news on that is that, while Edith will be recognizable and, I think, easily accepted, I don't think it's likely to be in the top 10 in the next 5 years or so.
I sort of like Felicity, as well, and if you're looking for a more "up-to-date" name, then this is the one I would go with.
Actually, I think either Edith Felicity or Felicity Edith sound beautiful together. It's hard to say which combination I would use because I think Edith Felicity flows better, but I like Lissy slightly better than Edie.
