[Opinions] Andrew
Andrew used to be one of my least favorite names but it has grown on me so much that I wanted to know what you think of it.I actually think Desperate Housewives made me like it. They showed reruns I watched every day for some time when I was sick and couldn't really do anything else. One of the main characters has a son named Andrew. I loved how she said it, she was such a neat person who has everything organized so now Andrew sounds handsome and diginified to me. Before it sounded low class and unattractive. Wow. By the way, the name of the character's daughter, Danielle, has also grown on me. I used to hate it. I might post on it later.Anyway I still hate the nickname Andy but I do like Andrew and Drew as a nickname. I also like just Drew but because of Drew Barrymore always consider it too feminine as a full name for a guy.So what do you think of Andrew, mostly called Andrew but sometimes Drew? It is too common, right? I never really got the impression of it being common because all the ones I know went by Andy all of the time. So Andrew still sounds fresh to me. Do you agree? How many do you know? How many of them go by Andy? Do some go by Drew?I do think that the younger Andrews don't go by Andy anymore. I was actually shocked to still see it in the top 20. But I'm also surprised Ashley is still in the top 30 and how Kimberly is still in the top 100.

I like Andrew and Drew is ok for an actual name for a boy too... Sometimes wondered why Drew Berrymore's parents gave her a boys' name. I don't think she'd be the one to judge the name by since it isn't that standard as a female name. She really is an exception on that one. Andy does sound kinda little boyish.

Andrew's been growing on me lately, too, and I don't know why. I've never disliked it, but it has never caught my eye before, either. Andrew, occasionally Drew, gets a "yay!" from me. I think Andrew is a strong, handsome, classic name, and it definitely doesn't feel low class to me. It's weird, but I don't know any little boys named Andrew, only teens and adults. When I was growing up, most Andrews were Andy, but I imagine Drew is the nickname of choice today. Andy shouldn't be hard to avoid.

I have mixed feeling for the name because my brother is Colin Andrew but he's always been "Andy" and it sounds strange when anybody call him Andrew and never Drew. You're right, most Andrews nowadays are called "Andrew", whereas Andrews my age (20's) and a bit younger were mostly called "Andy". I used to not like Andrew very much because the Andrews and Andys I knew were annoying little kids who turned out rather badly (except my brother, perhaps because he's Colin Andrew? joking). I've heard of very few Drews, I like "Drew" but mostly Drew reminds me of the popular "cool" guy in school who became a doctor or lawyer (Chad has a similar image for some reason). I never think of it as a girls name.So I'm not surprised Andrew is still popular, it's a handsome and strong Biblical name and there's been many influential men named Andrew throughout history. And boys named Andrew today can just be "Andrew" without being worried that they might be called Andy or even Drew unless they want to be.

Andrew is very handsome and dignified indeed. I know an Andrew who goes by Andrew now but went by Andy as a kid/teen. I love Drew enough to be a full name (for a guy), so I'd gladly endorse Andrew with the occacisonal nickname Drew. As for being common, I feel like it's common-ish but not overly so. And it's been a common name for a long time, so it's not like it's trendy. Like Joshua. Alexander. Common, traditional, and very nice solid names.

Like you i dislike Andy (though I love Andie for a girl, weird) but I do kinda like Andrew, it doesn't seem lower class to me, it's just a classic that seemed to go out of vogue for a whileI kind of like Drew but I prefer Anders or just AndrewI know, no little Andrews or Andy;s, the youngest one I know is 21

I love the name Andrew! I always have. I especially love the nn Drew. I used to watch this show called "Vampire High" when I was a kid (before Twilight turned vampires into sparkly, overly romantic things), and the vampire I loved best was named Drew. Well, idk how it is where you live obviously, but where I live, I've only met two guys named Andrew in my whole life. One of those guys is my second cousin who used to beat me and my cousin Bruce up. He is the unfortunate reason why I can never use this name. Both of them went by Andrew, no nn.

I really like Andrew. I've sort of almost liked it most of my life, then I met an Andrew in college who made me sort of see it a bit differently and like it even more. I group it with the super nice, cuddly guy who lives down the street and was in your class in 3rd grade and has always been a good friend sort of name.I don't dislike Andy, but I don't totally love it either. And I really dislike Drew... it's so... jerky. I don't think I've known any Drews who were jerks, but I just get that vibe from it. I love Andrew with no nickname at all.Oh, Andrews, I couldn't even count them all. Many didn't use a nickname, most went by Andy, and a handful went by Drew that I can recall.Yeah, I know of two Kimberlys under the age of 2. What up with that?
