There was a long-distance runner called Zola Budd about 30 years ago. And in South Africa a Zola used to be a n ickname for a very fast taxi, driven dangerously.

I don't quite like it. I do love Zoia, and Zelda.

I think of the French author Emile Zola. Unfortunately, he taints the name.

Hearts! There is a baby Zola on Grey's Anatomy, where I first heard the name. It's so sweet and the African meaning is lovely.

It always puts me in mind of athlete Zola Budd.
It's nms but I can appreciate that it has its merits - shades of Lola and Zoe, which have both been popular recently, especially Lola, which seemed to come out of nowhere on the apron strings of Lily) but less nicknamey than Lola and prettier than Zoe imo

It's pretty. I like it. Well, I like the way it looks and sounds. I just don't like the way it feels when I say it. I'm weird. :)
