It's ok. As much as I usually dislike -ie nicknames as short forms of things, I actually find Stephanie nn Stevie kinda fun... It's not at the top of my list, but it's likeable enough... Plus, now that not everyone is using that name so much, there's space for Stephanie to be refreshingly different without being freakishly odd... If you really like it, go ahead and use it... or recommend it as an option for people deciding on names.
