[Opinions] Re: Cornelia vs. Cordelia
There are lots of variations of Cornelius in South Africa, and some of them translate into versions of Cornelia. For me, Cordelia is refreshingly uncommon and has that quaint Anne of Green Gables air about it; plus, I like Delia as a nn better than any of the Cornelia possibilities. These include Cornelia, Corrie, Nelia (long e), Nel, Nell, Nellie and sometimes Nellsie, though that usually comes from Petronella. Male versions include Corné (so Cornée should be possible, though I haven't seen it), Cornel (corrNEL), Nelius, Nelis (from the older form, Cornelis) and Cor. Both Daniel and Nathaniel can shorten to Niel in Afrikaans, so it could probably also work for Cornelius, though I haven't seen it happen).
