Lloyd, hands down. And there's no pain involved, since I've a long-standing crush on Lloyd Dobbler. :)

Lloyd!I actually like Lloyd a lot. Like, would-consider-using-it-on-a-child-if-I-married-someone-who-liked-it levels.(I will fully admit that it's because I've played a video game that had a main character named Lloyd and he was young, in his teens, so I can easily see it on a younger guy.)

Floyd. The double L in Lloyd just bothers me. And there is always my husbands obsession with Pink Floyd.

Floyd Lloyd McMurgatroyd!
He came from beyooond the void.Floyd is more fun, therefore he winz. Lloyd seems v serious and dignified, and I bet he wears his shirts and sweaters tucked into his trousers. Floyd would NEVER do that.

LloydI guess. I "like" the sound and look better, and it seems slightly less doofy. And there's the Lloyd Alexander association that I like.

Not sure... think it would depend on what the surname was.

Uuuuuuuugh. I really can't choose because I hate them both so much, lol. Lloyd is all Lloyd Chistmas to me...... I can't picture ANYONE but a slow, mindless, half-wit, and even if he's endearingly goofy I CANNOT like the name.Floyd is just old and grumpy.I guess if I HAD to choose I'd pick Floyd - but only because I could say it was a Pink Floyd reference.

Oh dear. Well, I know a Lloyd whom we call luh-loyd behind his back, because I hate the way the double L looks.
But Floyd reminds me of tacky flamingo-print shirts and the word phlegm.
So I guess it's Lloyd. How about Boyd?

LloydThe double L is kind of neat given how unusual it is. And Lloyd to me is all Welsh, whereas Floyd has a sort of southern rural USA impression to me (which I don't particularly care for in my names). Plus I hate hate hate Pink Floyd. Yecch.

FloydIt was my grandpa's name.

Floyd!!!I don't know what it is, but I find Lloyd grody. Yet, I love Floyd. Maybe it's just cooler because of Pink Floyd? I don't know.
vote up1
Floyd. Only because I associate it with Pink Floyd and that's a good thing.

I choose death.Nah. I think I would go with Lloyd. In spite of only sharing an initial sound, Floyd reminds me of "fluke" for some reason. Lloyd, while unattractive, doesn't conjure up any potentially embarrassing connections.

Lloyd :(Ew, I hate both of them. Are you really going to make me choose?! Ahhhh...I guess...Lloyd.

LloydMy dad has a friend named Lloyd who was always pleasant to me when I was a child. Also, my pep band ridiculed a women's basketball player with the last name Floyd prettily badly by saying "Floyd" like the seagulls from Finding Nemo. I can't even think the name in a normal voice anymore.

I really don't like either but I guess I will choose Lloyd because that was my grandpa's name (my grandma's other husband was named Floyd. Weird huh?).

FloydFloyd's so cool. Lloyd seems kind of stuffy.A girl I used to bowl with mentioned it to me and said she was going to name her first child Floyd, boy or girl. I was like "omg no don't call a girl Floyd", but I started liking it a lot then (for a boy).

Lloyd :) I like "L" names.

Floyd.

I'd choose Lloyd, it's close to Claude which I actually do like very much. I would use Claude if my partner loved it.Floyd is very apricot.

You don't have to threaten me to get me to say I like Floyd better.
Floyd doesn't take himself too seriously; Lloyd can take himself a little too seriously.
But I think that more different sorts of boys/men would comfortably carry off Lloyd, than Floyd. Lloyd is safer, and Floyd is a bit much for me to actually use. But if I had to choose for a real son on pain of death, I'd pick Floyd (and then worry my head off about it).
vote up1
Yes, this is exactly true - Lloyd is safer. I suppose a Floyd could morph into Lloyd if he really hated it.

Both bring a vivid picture to mindLloyd: Three-piece business suit, very dignified, intelligentFloyd: Living in Florida, wearing Hawaiian shirts, loud, fun So for me, I'd go with Floyd.

Slightly off-topic...We have an 1970s elephant bank and a mallard duck beanie baby. A while back my husband put the duck on top of the elephant and suddenly - they were a vaudeville act. The elephant is Floyd, the duck is Walter 'Walt.' Walt has a drinking problem. (Yes, we're insane in this household, but it's a fun crazy.)

Lloyd, because Floyd has always reminded me of flouride.

I think they're both hilarious. I don't know why but Lloyd, Floyd and Flynn always make me laugh out loud so hard when I hear or read about them. As I really dislike them both I'd probably go for the one with the better meaning. Oh ok so they mean the same thing. Great.I guess Floyd because the double L at the beginning of Lloyd seems a bit weird.

"As I really dislike them both I'd probably go for the one with the better meaning. Oh ok so they mean the same thing. Great."Omg I totally did a Wicked Witch of the West cackle over that. LLOYDFLOYD STRIKES AGAIN!

I'd get my affairs in order...And make sure my insurance was good. But I guess Lloyd. It doesn't sound quite so old as Floyd. Floyd sounds about 80. Lloyd sounds 60. And at least he would be less likely to be called Pretty Boy Lloyd.
vote up1
uh oh, Floyd's got a dirty thirties bank robber namesake? He's definitely pulling ahead in the race now.
vote up1
bear in mind...That the full name of the bank robber was a perfectly respectable and ordinary Charles Arthur Floyd.
Read Larry McMurtry's "Pretty Boy Floyd." It's hilarious.

I actually like Lloyd. Not a big fan of Floyd though. It seems...incredible nerdy and I don't exacly know how to put it, but Floyd feels like a "joke" name somehow.
vote up1
Yeah I get you. The jokiness of Floyd is kind of what's drawing me to it, though! It has a lot of personality, and it makes me smile. Lloyd is getting points for the repeated beginning letters though. It looks so elegant.
