[Opinions] S(Hal)l We Applaud?
As a full forename, it is too minimalistic for my tastes; as a nickname, I think that it is nice. Very casual, refreshing, and appears like it would be a name that would grow decently well with it's bearer. Are you seeking names that also begin in H, or no?
The following are a handful that came to mind...

Bartholomew
Nicholas
Haldor
Halvar / Halvard
Halvdan
Hamilton
Harlan
Harold
Henry
And as a note, the final two that I listed are generally what Hal is put to use for.- Francesca

Not necessarily looking for an "H" name. I LOVE Halvdan!!! Thank you soooo much! It going on my list. The meaning is fantastic too (and relevant to our family). I hope DH like this. I am in love! Thank you!!!!

Marvelous; I am glad that I could be of assistance. The meaning nudged my curiosity, as well... regrettably, it is not very applicable for me.
If you are considering it for a child, I think that it sounds wonderful with Lennon and Marlee.
