[Opinions] Laura
Could probably never use it because it's common among people my age and I know one I really don't like, but what do you think of Laura? Typical 80s name? Have you met many? Chances for a comeback? I was surprised to see how quickly it has fallen out of the top 100.

I'm surprised it fell so fast too. It's very pretty and soft. I have a lot of friends named Laura or Lori/Laurie. It would be great to see a comeback of Laura!

I'm a Laura! Growing up I was not a big fan of my name. Sounded "old" to me and I hated that there were no great nicknames to use with it. Plus I was a tomboy and it didn't quite fit. I was a big fan of the Little House on the Prairie books because of my name though. There were two other Lauras in my grade growing up but at least I wasn't one of the dozens of girls named Caitlin/Katelyn/Kaitlin/Katie or Liz. As I've gotten older, I've grown to appreciate my name. It's easy to pronounce and spell and it ages well. While I was born in the 80s, I don't consider it an 80s name. I think of Tiffany, Stephanie, Amanda, etc. Kimberly, my middle name, has an 80s sound, I'll give you that. But I think Laura is more of a classic name that could come around again. Probably cause of that 1940s movie Laura. I've had "Laura's Theme" sung to me many times! Or Little House on the Prairie, or Petrarch's Laura. I like that my name can be traced throughout history. I am always mistaken for Lauren though, which is a bit annoying. Little kids call me "Laura the Explorer" after Dora and new toddlers named Laura could get this nickname more easily now I suppose. But I do think I'd rather see a little Laura running around than another Madison, Kayla, Mackenzie, Taylor etc. that may fall out of fashion in a few years and become easily dated. I could see the name Laura on a toddler, a teenager, a woman in any profession, or an older woman. It's more difficult to picture a Miley or Teagan in older stages of life, but it'll happen as this new generation grows. Personally, I think it's time for Laura to make a comeback...but I'm biased!

I know a fair few Lauras and they're all around my age (20/21). However, I do know that my great-grandmother's name was Laura. She would be over 90 by now!

I'm not sure why, but Laura has always been very bland to me. Let me state this again, I don't know WHY, because I love the names Anne and Jane, which several people find to be quite plain, too. My freshman year of college I was in a science class, it was all girls, about 25 of us, and 3 of us (myself included) were not named: Laura/Lauren/Laurie or Katie/Kate, and actually the first set out numbered the second. So I think I've just heard it far too much for it to really stick out to me.

I am a Laura. I was born in the 90s, and I've never felt like my name belongs to the 80s. When I think "typical 80s name," I think Tiffany, Heather, Stephanie, Amanda, etc. Aside from myself, I know a BOATLOAD of other Lauras. They're EVERYWHERE in my age group. I cannot stand the alternative Lauren, which does feel like an 80s and 90s name. I consider my name a classic and I love having it.

I find Laura beautiful, strong, earthy, sweet, smart...I love it. I wish I didn't already have cousins named Laura and Lori. Laura would be near the top of my list otherwise.I've known multiple Lauras ranging from little old ladies to teenagers. I don't find it dated; Laura is a classic name currently experiencing a downturn in popularity, similar to Margaret, Peter, or Philip. I'm sure it will make a comeback. Even now, a little Laura would be a breath of fresh air after decades of meeting little Laurens.

Laura is okay, though I've started to like Lauren a lot more lately. I don't think I know any Laura's. I think there's no telling if there will be a comeback. I mean, you never know.

I have a friend called Laura. I quite like the name, and I'm surprised that it's not more popular. I also like the similar names Lauren and Laurel.

I know a 14 year old Laura Joan. I think it's quite dated, and i prefer the fresher alternatives Laurel and Lorelei.

I like Laura, but it's extremely popular here, so I'd never use it. I know about 7-8, all under 10. It's pronounced LAH-oo-rah here.

I think it's verging on classic but yes, still seems a bit "dated" to me. I know a few Laura's and they're all in their 20s-30s. I actually prefer Lauren

I think of Laura as more of an enduring classic rather than an 80s name. I realize due to "Little House" that it was used more often (along with Melissa), however, I still view it as timeless. I went to school with a few (not too many) and have known a few others over the years of all ages. Many of the kids my dds have known were Laurens (only one Laura that I'm aware of).

I find Laura to be a nice mix of warmth and elegance. I've only known a couple of them and thought well of both.
