[Opinions] Oscar?
What do you think of the name Oscar? I got it from Oscar Wilde, since I read a few quotes from him recently and really liked them (I need to go read his books now) and it got me thinking of his name...I think my parents had a cat named Oscar when I was really little (under 5) so I don't know if it'd be weird to name a son this or not, but we also had a cat named Abigail and my mom said she'd like that on a granddaughter, so maybe not. Anyways, opinions? Combos? Possible siblings could be Abigail Felicity, Cordelia Ivy, Imogen Louise, Georgiana Marie, Amelia Glorianne, William Gregory, Arthur Peregrine, James Frederick, Ronan Broderick...do Arthur and Oscar sound too similar?

I love Oscar, it's one of my favourite. I love Arthur too - I don't think they're too similar, in fact I think they'd go really well together. James and Oscar also go well together.

Sorry, but it always makes me think of the grouch and this Hispanic guy who decided to hit on me on the bus my first week of uni... (I tend not to go for guys who hit on me on public transit without even knowing anything else about me... that weirds me out... and I'm not so easy to weird out)... It also makes me think of the variety of fish... so it's kind of a hard name to take seriously.

He'll always be a little gold dude to me.Either the statue or the Grouch, Oscar is just not a favorite for me. I understand Oscar Wilde being a driving force -- he's wonderful. What about his middle name, Fingal? I don't think Arthur and Oscar are too similar, but like I said, I'm not a huge Oscar fan (unless we're talking about the ceremony!). Combo ideas...Oscar Fingal
Oscar Luke
Oscar James
Oscar William
Oscar Matthias
Oscar Theodore
Oscar Willem
Oscar Isaiah
Oscar Isaac
Oscar Hadrian
Oscar Henry
Oscar Lyle
Oscar Kenneth
Oscar Alastair
Oscar Alexander
Oscar Phillip
Oscar Charles
Oscar Laurence

I really love the name Oscar, and I, too, had a cat named Oscar. I also love the names Ginger (Ginny) and Marley, the names of my dogs. I guess it might be a little strange to use them, but despite their habits of getting in the garbage and eating my flowers, I consider them to be family. As for Arthur and Oscar, they both end in "r" and have two syllables, so they're close, but I wouldn't say they're too close. It's not like Casey and Carey. I think if you really loved them, then you could get away with using both. Cordelia Ivy and Arthur Peregrine are rockin' combos btw.

It makes me think of the award show and I just never cared for the sound. I think of a really old guy who doesn't take care of himself and drinks a lot of alcohol. I just don't find it attractive.I really like Cordelia Ivy and Georgiana Marie. I don't think Arthur and Oscar sound too similar but I still don't like them in the same sibset for some reason.

I've always liked Oscar. It has strength, it's classy, and it is under-used in my area. At least, those are the connotations I have always had. Arthur and Oscar might be close, but I don't think they are too close.I really like most of your other names, too! James Frederick and Imogen Louise are my favorites.
