[Opinions] Birth Announcement
A friend has welcomed a daughter.
Last I heard, she and her boyfriend were trying to decide between naming her Audrey (what she wanted) and Ariel (what he wanted).
They named her
Adriel Marie
Apparently Marie is significant to the father somehow.
Adriel isn't something she'd mentioned at all-- we talked about names a few times and she had me give her suggestions (she told me she wanted something "unique" and "victorian" and "vintage")
Some others she had considered...
Ariel Madison (this was the first thing she ever mentioned)
Ariel Cadence
Ariel Jane
Paris Cadence
Addaline Jocelynn
Cheyenne Grace
Vanessa Marie
anyway. wdyt?
(also, the dad's name is Caden. Weird that there are Cadens with babies).

Adriel is a masculine Biblical name that has been in the top 1000 names for boys over the last few years. I went to school with a guy named Adriel and I much prefer it as a boys' name.
Huh. I know an Adriel. For some reason his name was changed to Ralph.
It's a weird little name. Weirdly sparkly. Weirdly ancient-modern. Definitely not victorian and vintage. Maybe "unique."
I might like this choice more than all of her other ones. Ariel Jane is nice too, very 90s-sporty. Adriel would be a pain over the phone and whatnot but that's ok.

I like Adriel. It's really elfin and pretty.
Actually I like Adriel Marie more than the other options listed.
Congrats to them!

Victorian, unique and vintage?
I don't think so. Very few of her name ideas are any of those things.
And Adriel definitely is not. In fact it sounds like a nasal spray for congestion.

Yeah I know. I gave her a bunch of ideas that fit her request (she asked for suggestions) and she goes "I'm thinking Cheyenne". No comment on the list of names I'd just offered her.
(boyfriend had just wanted "a good strong name" though)
