[Opinions] Sibset
DH and I are going to start trying for another one or two more children and are having drama with names. Our first two have matching initials (as you can see below) and then we had a stillborn daughter named Michaela Rose. DH doesn't want to do matching initials again so the question is with matchy siblings will it be off the wall to go a different route with the new siblings. Some names that we both like are as below. Do you think that they will fit or will it be crazy? The middle names will probably be starting with "m" and for boys will be possibly Morgan, Mitchell, or Matthew and girls will be possibly Mae, Michelle, or Madeline (mad-uh-line).Amelia / Emelia
Victoria
Susannah
Angelina
Jessica (DH fave but very unsure on my part due to popularity during 80's and 90's)Benjamin
Simon
Thomas
Elliott
Jacob
Nicholas

Two kids with the same initials could easily be a coincidence rather than a determined theme. I'll bet most folks don't even notice it, and I don't see switching things up as problematic at all. Of your lists, I best like Susannah Mae, Emelia Madeline, Benjamin or Simon to join Elisabeth and Ethan. For honoring purposes, I'd be willing to go with an "M" middle name for Benjamin or Simon but I'd really prefer another beginning sound. For me, Thomas Matthew and Jacob Mitchell sound best. I love Elliott, but if you are wanting to avoid an "E" theme, how about Matthew Elliott?

Well, I've been loving on Victoria a whole lot lately, and I think it goes beautifully with Elisabeth and Ethan. Victoria Mae or Victoria Madeline in particular are lovely. I would cast my vote against Emelia and Elliott; once you have three kids with the first initial E., it's hard to change after that. I think other names that work are Amelia, Susannah, Jessica (I still like it too), Benjamin, Thomas, Jacob, and Nicholas. Here are the combos I think would work best:Amelia Mae
Susannah Mae
Susannah Madeline
Jessica MaeBenjamin Mitchell
Benjamin Matthew
Thomas Morgan
Thomas Matthew
Jacob Mitchell
Jacob Morgan
Jacob Mitchell
Nicholas Matthew
Nicholas Morgan

I really like Victoria as well and my favorite combo is Victoria Madeline. I don't dislike Jessica I just can't wrap my head around it as something I want to use due to excessive use in the time period I grew up but it is my DH favorite girls name and I have already got around using it twice so I feel that I may not be able to get around it again.

If using matching initals means you won't use your favorite names then I think it's a bad idea. I always wonder, when I come across siblings with matcing names, if their parents really used the names they loved or if they just tried to find a name that fit. I hate the idea of parents not using their favorite names in favor of using a matching name. I think all the names on your list fit nicely with your children's names. I actually really like the idea of a little Jessica, just because it is so unexpected. My favorite is Emelia. Emelia Mae is lovely. I like all your boy names except for Jacob. Elliott Morgan is my favorite combo. Overall, I think you have some really nice names here. Ah, I just realised that I picked the only two E names from the list as my favorites...

I actually love my kids names and totally agree with you. I also really adore Emelia and Elliott and they are definately my favorite of all the names that my DH and I agree on. The problem with "e" names comes into play if we have two girls or two boys because we can't agree on another "e" name of each gender and I feel that if we have three e's and are only going to have four children then I have to stick with e's but DH doesn't see my point...lol.

I think Susannah Michelle or Susannah Mae would be really nice. For a boy I like Thomas Morgan, Elliott Matthew (fits in with the other E names), Simon Matthew or Nicholas Morgan

I like Susannah as well but unfortunately it is the least likely to be used out of our list due to DH preference for other girl names. :(

My name is Emma Rose - a good ER combination :PBut seriously, I think it would be absolutely fine to go with different initials for this child. I don't particularly like it when the whole family is matchy-matchy, and it might mean that you end up using a name you don't even like, just to fit the pattern which is silly. Also, you only have 2 children with matching initials so it won't be really obvious that this one doesn't match. If you had 15 children when ER initials, and then one without, it might be a bit more of a problem.I like all the names you suggested, especially Amelia, Susannah, Thomas and Elliott. I think it would be nice to use Michelle as a daughter's middle name, as it is related to Michaela.

I actually have Michelle and Mitchell on the middle name list due to their roots being the same as Michaela. All of our children so far have honoring middle names so I think that those would work as well.

I think all those names would look just fine, not crazy in the slightest. And I bet most people won't even notice that the other siblings don't follow the "theme". It's all fine and good.

Thanks! I think that I am so focused on the theme thing that I can't see anything else.
