I find Ophelia to be pretty but I would never use it irl. I think it would be very, very, very sad if the majority of people don't think of Shakespeare. I understand why you wouldn't want them to but I come from Shakespeare land so the thought of someone not being obsessed with his stories breaks my heart just a wee bit.
My sister is Jillian. So Gillian, to me, looks wrong. And with the hard 'g' sounds horrific. Jillian usually goes by Jill. She was born in the mid-80s, too. So while I understand the appeal of Gillian/Gilly, I am preconditioned to hate it thanks to the association I have with Jillian. (and growing up, my mom hated Gillian with a 'g' so that's warped my judgment, too!) :)
